Official Cosplay Help Thread

We have a wig help thread, a Cosplay progress thread, a tutorial thread, a photos lot thread and m y more! But we don't have a Cosplay Help thread!!
Rather than people posting in the Cosplay threads the questions they have, why have them post in a general help thread for anyone to help? For colors, patterns, advice, you name it. If you need help with a Cosplay, post any question here, except for a wig question, we have a thread for that:)

So I'm trying to put together a Lord Death cosplay from Soul Eater, but I can't decide whether to make the body a one piece suit thingymajig, or if I should have it in two pieces. I also haven't decided on a material to use for the body yet.
Any suggestions?

Well, some people in my group on facebook have been asking similar questions. Normally, you have to decide on whether or not you want more work. If a one piece full suit would be easier to make, I would go with that. But the two pieces sounds like it would look better once worn.
As for materials, I've been telling my group to use material that is airy and light but still good quality. Its really hella hot during kumoricon, so it does well to wear fabric that isn't going to cook you. I used Symphany cotton for a lot of my cosplays because its light, good quality, and is cheap at joanns lol

use suiting! i used black suiting for my rukia and its so light and flows very nicely. just be warned it frays hard core so wither zigzag the seams, pink them, or use a serger

lol sigh for once my "knowledge" gets in the way..... its basicly a fabric. im sure if you go to joanns any worker should be able to show you where the section for it is
