Princess Peach Brooch
« on: January 28, 2013, 04:00:28 pm »
Hey guys. I am making Princess Peach and Princess Daisy cosplays for my sister and I and I'm trying to get them done before Sakuracon this year. I'm having trouble creating their brooch's. I don't know what to use. I'm afraid clay will be too heavy. I have no experience with resin.

I too don't have experience with resin but an used to ferrying by with out it.
I would suggest taking a look around craft stores  and see if anything in the jewelry section beads and what not would work,
Really for that shade if you can find something the right shape you could probably coat  it with some nail polish if its kinda porous.,,I an gonna think about it if I see anything out and about I will post

I suggest Crayola Model Magic clay and  perhaps a wire armature inside to create and hold the shape. Since its round it should be pretty easy. Model magic is light and fluffy, doesn't stain, and is very easy to work with. If you do use it I suggest using a clear varnish over it after it's been painted. That way it'll stay nice and strong. Most art store carry it as well and its cheap.

You could try something like this for the jewel:

And then making the backing out of Model Magic.
