Oregon City High School...?

So I'm sure if anybody here has done it, you would know that switching schools, especially during high school, would be really difficult. Unfortunately I do not know how this feels.

I'm going into my Junior year and am transferring from Gladstone High to Oregon City High. I have spent my entire life in the Gladstone school district thus far, and don't know a single person (except my step-brother) who goes to OCHS. (Random: I also formed the Anime Club at Gladstone High )  Schooling is a problem for me and I am possibly going into some special program to better my education. O-Cap or something. IDK, but regardless if I get into the program or not, I won't know a single person. I have no idea what it is like being the new kid.

So just out of curiosity, does anybody else go to Oregon City High? I don't care what grade, but it would be nice to know other people who share the common interest of anime/manga.

Hey I went to OCHS all four years and graduated in 2010. I am sad to inform you that all anime related clubs have been banned since 2007-2008. The quick story around this is that some super senior in the anime club was looking up hentai and that's how the club got banned permanently. If I was younger I'd hand out, but as a college student of too many hours....

Takes one person to ruin it for everyone, eh? That's too bad. Sort of gives off that vibe to others that all Otaku are into Hentai. And for a super senior for ruin it, that's pretty bad. Oh well.

Wow... I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you guys. It's sad to know that this could happen even in a haven of tolerance like the Pacific Northwest. I seriously doubt a movie club would have been banned because one of the members was once caught watching a porno, but to some people anything "weird" (like anime) is inherently bad.

Here's hoping this can be overturned some day if the person who made the decision moves or retires.

I attend OCHS and I will be a senior this year. There may not be an anime/manga specific club, but there is one that does play the games and listen to the music. It is called 'Shinpaku Alliance'. We do OCCASIONALLY watch an anime or two during the holidays (before break or end of the year), and that is thanks to our host. The clubs do not start officially until October, but we may start earlier than that. As for the-new-kid-on-the-block feel, I have been there multiple times and, at this school, you will feel right at home with the club members and, eventually, the rest of the school.

I don't go to OCHS, but my cousin does. She's kind of boy crazy, but she loves 'Soul Eater', 'Nana', 'Paradise Kiss', and tons more anime/manga related things. She's also pretty into video games. Her name is Shailyn and she's a freshman, but I know she'd probably love to talk your ear off, if you've got the time.

P.S. I'm mainly trying to find her new friends, since her current friends aren't the best influences.

Actually the beginning of the school year was incredibly hectic so I don't attend OCHS anymore but instead a secondary school of sorts in the area. However, I am at OCHS every day for bus rides. But your cousin sounds nice. Any other way I can get a hold of her?
And fear not, I am not a bad influence. Free of drugs and whatnot. Haha.

And I agree with the idea of a OC cosplay meetup. That would be really good for the local Otaku since OC is getting out in rural town...Not as many accepting people, unfortunately.

Now, 'The question of the day' is where would it be held and when? I could swing this by the club and I am sure most of them would be ecstatic.
As for your cousin CloudStrife32, she would be welcome with open arms in the club, if she hasn't already (still getting used to the new names).

Especially when it's a break after college finals!
