Anyone interested in more Live Action Sailor Moon?
« on: May 27, 2004, 08:57:22 am »
Last year at Kumoricon on the first night of the con we had a "Live Action Sailor Moon Slumber Party" and aired the first 14 or so episodes.  The show is just a riot!  It's Sailor Moon meets Power Rangers!  It's silly and campy and a lot of fun to watch --especially in a big group.  People who love Sailor Moon (like me) like it and people who can't stand it end up laughing at the exact same parts.

At Sakura I held the same event and we aired all the episodes through 26 (with some episode skipping).  Both events were very successful!

Would there be an interest in having this event again at Kumoricon?  This time I'd show the Episodes where the girls each get their powers, and then skip to the "Dark Mercury" story arc and then the rest of the episodes that are available.

This would most likely take place on the first evening and other events would be going on at the same time (Perhaps a dance and/or open mike karaoke as a guess).  The fun part about a "Slumber Party" type marathon is that it's a more casual viewing style.  It's OK to talk back and MiST things a bit (as long as you are actually funny --not funny people would be glared at! ).  It's also the kind of thing were it's OK to come and go as you please (perhaps you only want to check out one episode just so you can say you've seen it!) and it's another place to hang out.

Yeahyeahyeahyeeeeeeeaaaaah!!!!

That was one of the highlights of the convention for me!
I'm sure it'll be even better when I can watch it with my SMfan girlfriend with me! Pajama party all the way!

I'm on episode 31 with my downloads right now. I can't bear waiting between them so I'm getting about 5 at a time for us to watch.

I just wish there were more neat commercials in the other episodes.

other than the workshop and contest for which i volunteered, live action sailor moon was definitely the highlight of last year's con for me. i intend to watch as much of it as i can....including what i think is called episode zero again (the hilarious ep about how they hired the cast, set up "special effects" and such).

the only way i wouldn't be there would be if it overlapped my responsibilities for fanfic.

thank you so much for bringing and convening this, beth! you're the best!

I've never seen any before, and from what I've heard it's so terrible it's excellent.

Count me as a "yes" for this one.

This is starting to look like a possibility.  It's not in stone yet, but I'm going to start looking for a host.  I'll have DVD-Rs of the episodes we are showing, but after hosting this two times, I'd like to not have to be there the whole time again.  We'll be looking for a mature person to handle changing out the episodes and handling the crowd.

You'd need to be responsibile for making sure noone walks out with any of the stuff.  Since a wide range of ages watches this stuff, making sure the grownups and the underage people aren't too "friendly" (wink-wink, nudge-nudge) with eachother.  The other is listening to the comments and making sure the jokes stay no worse than PG-13 and that people aren't just constantly yelling out commentary for the heck of it (It needs to actually be FUNNY!).  Sometimes people get a few laughs at the first few things they say, and it kind of urges them to keep going...

I can be that mature person.

No, really! I think that'd be one of the the best things for me to spend my time doing at the convention! Especially since it'd give me an excuse to sit through the whole thing again!

As far as the commentary goes I know how that gets, you get one wise acre trying to hard. Like little kids when their parents laugh at something cute so they run it into the ground for attention. *sigh*

Anyway, I would be honored to help out at that event.

Guess I'm gonna have to come and watch some live action sailor moon.
And now I'm a catgirl?

The voice of the one I love
was all I could hear as I lay broken in the darkness
My own voice faltered
My wings no longer had the strength to fly

Hmmm..... for those of you who aren't quite sure yet, you can download some spoilers via bittorrent here.

http://bt.base0.net/tv-n/

(Edit: OMGNEWEPISODE34!!!)

It's where I get my episodes. I highly suggest "Episode 0" since it's the "making of" special. It gives you a good look at the feel of the series.

Then if it's too good for you *haughty sniff* you can just go to whatever else is going on that night.

Tom,

I'm burning the Making Of, then episodes 1,2,3,6 (Moon, Mercury, Mars then Jupiter get their powers in those eps).

After those, a huge jump to the Dark Mercury Story Arc.  After that, I'll just have the rest of the eps on DVD and we can keep going as long as there is time and an audience.

Sound good to you?

Hm..... Let me review the episodes to see what would be left out.
I think the introduction of Zoicite is in there somewhere but the Dark Mercury Story Arc is the best.

I ran outta room and had to put my episodes on disc. I'll be transferring files around to review for the next couple of days.

Just curious, does your Episode 1 have commercials?

There will be some of the "bad guy" enterances missing and some Sailor Venus plot points, but with about 2 1/2 episodes per hour and the number that will be out by September, we've got to skip.

If there is one you think just absolutely needs to not be skipped, I'll go with your decision, but keep in mind, that Dark Mercury starts at about episode 19 and they should be to about episode 38-40 by the con.[/i]

OK, I've started looking through the episodes. 0, 1, 2, 3, 6 and then Dark Mercury (19-28) is a good plan. There was another key episode I had in mind but that's in the storyline so it'll all work out!

That's what? 14 episodes at 2.5 per hour like you said......
The primary showing will be more than 5 hours long!!!

No problem. I waited in line for 3 days before Return of the King debuted, helping with the show will be easy. I'll just save one of those 12 packs of Mt Dew Livewire I got on sale.

Completely understand that! I woulda stayed all night last year but I wasn't staying at the hotel, and my ride was going home.

I think I've got a perfect costume to bring with me, I need to check the episodes though or else nobody new would understand!

If you haven't seen it already, check out episode 00 here.

http://bt.base0.net/tv-n/

I highly suggest that most of you watch no more than 2 episodes so that you aren't ruining any suprises. Trust me, some of these episodes are going to be MUCH better with a group rather than by yourself at 3 AM.

I can't wait for ***SPOILER DELETED*** and you just know they'll be screaming!
