Well the Red Lion is moving forward with remodeling plans which includes hauling The Restaurant at the Quay ("Key") up to the present age from its current timeline location somewhere in the 1980s...

They are raising money for this by raising prices on foods and drinks and ALSO they will now be charging for the back room we used to meet in over the past few years.

$100. o.O; That's before any food is ordered.

So I am looking for a new room or venue at the Hilton or VERY nearby.

Stay tuned here for details.

AMV Editors' Dinner (Friday, 30-Aug 8pm) - Hilton Gray's Restaurant

OK This year the Hilton will receive us on Friday before the con.

We can meet at a somewhat, semi-private zone within Grey's Restaurant
at the Hilton Hotel. It's called "The Washington Room," but it's actually a bunch of booths enclosing a center table like square brackets [].

Start time is 8pm.

This gathering is open to the following folks:
- Anyone who has EVER submitted an AMV to any Kumoricon AMV contest
- Anyone who has participated on AMV Judges' Panel.

And for each of the above any parent, spouse, child, or significant supporter.

Everyone orders their own food and handles their own dinner checks.
Because we are a gang, the Hilton will add an 18% gratuity to the orders.
(C'mon, that's OK, considering we're getting the function space FREE.)

Typically the Hilton offers special Kumoricon menu items at a slightly reduced price compared to their full-sized dinner plates.

Also, for at least the last THREE YEARS RUNNING, one attendee at thes AMV Editors' dinners HAS BEEN A WINNER in the contest!!

See you all there!

Thanks to all who attended.
We had a great time, and it was also a joy to see some past winners.
A few judges also showed up and also submitters and aspirants.
Many people brought a friend, spouse, or significant partner as well.

We had 18 people - almost twice what I had guessed!
The Hilton staff was all top notch, from the event organizer,
the Maitresse 'd, and our server all handled the extra work
with ease and poise.

Conrad Hilton wrote the book on hospitality (yes he did in 1957,
and it's called "Be My Guest.") These people last night nailed it.

Cheers to everyone who participates and contributes to the AMV hobby!

We are going to have a great show tonight.

Dinger, I would be glad to see you anytime.

P.S. My wife and I had a 1990 Rioja - that's the year we were married - and it was superb.
The waither had thought it had corked at first, but they supplied a decanter and an hour
later it had opened up into a beautiful, velvety fullness with solid structure and a gentle
lemon finish. Again, Hilton's wine service was excellent.

The maker of "Attack on Kaiju" was visiting us from CA.
I don't remember if she was with us at dinner, but if so
then FOR TWO YEARS RUNNING we would have
had a major winner at this event. (and a 4-year streak
of someone present winning at least SOMETHING.)
