I haven't stayed at this particular EconoLodge before, but I have stayed at EconoLodges in the past. They're obviously not going to be as high-quality as somewhere like the Hilton, but imo for the purposes of a con-goer there's really no reason to worry about that. How often are you planning to be at your hotel? The showers work and the beds are clean, so for me that's all I really care about, which is why I booked a room there despite the bad reviews.

So does anyone know why the EconoLodge (601 Broadway Street) has such a LOW rating on almost every rate-this-hotel website that I've gone to?

For example on ChoiceHotels.com it's rated at 14% with like 2 stars out of 5. It might or might not really count as being a hotel but that's still a pretty low score.

The funny thing is I almost got a room there last year but I didn't and I still wish I had because I didn't really have a good experience with the two people (who will not be named, even though I'm still moderately grateful towards them for letting me stay there and not kicking me out) I roomed with at the Hilton.

Has anyone here actually stayed at that EconoLodge in the past and if you did, how was your stay?

When I stayed at the one near con, their beds and sheets made me itchy, they had no hot water, they had terrible water pressure, their food was disgusting and the rooms smelled terrible. I would recommend not staying there.
There is a comfort inn that has a price of $89 a night. It's where I'm staying with my partner. They have an outside pool and a decent sized fridge in their rooms. Their beds are amazing and the rooms all together are cozy. Their bathrooms are really nice too. Not much counter space (in the room I had) but a good amount of room for getting in cosplay.
