What I learned at Kumoricon

2007&2009: ONE DAY IS NOT ENOUGH. Don't tell Miroku you are a yaoi fan while dressed as Inuyasha. He will hit on you and stalk you all day. Go to more than one panel.
2010: My Deidara is a wonderful human being. I will always platonically love this person. I am never willingly being in the same room with any of the other people from that years group ever again though.
2012: Japan was AMAZING, but I missed Kumoricon. I'm glad to be back. Being a yojimbo is really fun! But not everybody pays attention to training or possesses common sense.
2013: Being a merchandise staff is really fun! Todd Haberkorn is really nice!
2014: I miss staffing and my friends on staff. I am never taking this ungrateful brat (my cousin) to kumoricon again. He can take himself for all I care. Get a hotel room that is close to con, staying with and relying on family for room/ride is a baad idea. If I decide to pay someone else's way again, we are both pre-registering. Cash Lines are a nightmare. Especially if newbie Yojis are running the front end of it. This was my only bad staff related experience in the history of my attendance of this con though.

Last year was my first ever Kcon, and first convention over all.

2014: Panels exist for a reason! You cannot use your real hair for a cosplay, don't do it. One day for $25 is way too much (this year I registered in March and snagged a full weekend pass for $35). Don't be shy, you little dweeb. COSPLAY IS AMAZING AND DIFFICULT,  AND YOU NEED TO RESPECT ALL COSPLAYERS! $25 is not sufficient merch funds, you only got  a DTK plushie and a print (because the super nice artist gave you $2 off, but don't expect discounts from everyone), people love it when you compliment them (and they'll probably compliment you back!), PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY DO NOT BE AFRAID, your non-nerdy friends do not really want to hear about how much fun you had.

Here's something i learned in 2014: Never assume anything and get a Hotel room as quickly as possible otherwise you may end up staying somewhere that's not exactly where you wnated to be.

2009: Don't have a free hug sign, some staff take their jobs too seriously
         - Don't enter into skits on your first con
               - if you do skits make sure YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
                     - Don't have your first skit rehearsal the DAY YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PERFORM.
            - You can meet some really amazing people at con. Talk to people, you never know what friends you make.
           

First ever con experience was kinda ruined ( still salty about it, I was 14... ) BUT let it go. * cue frozen song *
                - Let it go.

2012: Rent a hotel room, relying on other people for rides is not good when they are people who get constantly sick.
                - Go to that Panel, meet your idol. Trust me.
                      I got the seal of approval from one of my favorite artists telling me to start drawing comics.
                                 In the words of Shia LaBeouf : Just do it.
2012 my faith in cons was restored, it was actually really fun. Wish I could've gone for more than one day.

2015: It is ok to cry and feel upset, you will meet many new friends who will cheer you up regardless of the past.

2011 - Don't stay at the Red Lion. You miss out on lots of fun. Also, I LOVE THE CHAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2012 - NOTE TO SELF: Must pay for hotel room, myself, so I can choose the check-in date.

2014 - This is gonna a lengthy list;
1. FOUR DAYS IS AWESOME!!!!
2. Book a hotel room, as soon as reservations open.
3. Bring a fan, when obligations prevent you from going to your hotel room.
4. Don't annoy congoers, who happen to be forum members.
5. Getting kicked in the face, isn't as easy in real life, as it is in anime.
6. I REALLY WANT THE COMPLETE "EREN JÄGER SURVEY CORPS" COSPLAY, FOR NEXT YEAR!!!!!!
7. Have fun, but don't overdo it, unless you enjoy being sick.
8. SEID IHR DAS ESSEN?! NEIN, WIR SIND DIE JÄGER!!

2015
1. Running a panel is fun.
2. Having panelists flake out on me, is NOT fun.
3. General laziness will ALWAYS bite you on the behind.
4. Kinder gentler glomp circles, are EXTREMELY fun.

2015: Large hotel rooms are awesome even if the fridge turns everything inside it into an ice cube.
When I win something, apparently I go into shock and start crying.

the things I learned from kumoricon,
1. if you want a action figure, pick it up on the first day, do not hesitate, I went back the second day, and the figure had sold,
2. to get  a hotel room so you can go to the entire convention
3. to pre pay, I stood in line for 2 hours during the first day, but it was worth it

- Black gear plus evil day star equals heat. Consider avoiding all black gear in the future or hide in the shade.
-- Consider lighter and thinner material in general in the future, least during the day.

- Invest in better footwear for the walkings.

2015

- Still need to invest in better footwear for the walkings and the standings.

- Volunteering is fun! Sans the horrible confusions and the elevator lines.

- Remember to eat.

- The maid squad tis awesome, like riot police but more effective.

- Something something, John Cena. Pretty sure that theme is going to be stuck in my head for the next few months.

- Reserving a hotel room in advance is a super smart thing to do and something I should have done earlier.
