Web Design Standards bill of 2008
« on: October 12, 2008, 02:17:01 pm »
AP, WASHINGTON DC - The House of Representatives has just passed a  bill called the Web Design Standards Bill of 2008 wherein myspace.com and its holders will be required to revise all myspace pages to comply with the new standards set forth in the bill. What this means for the average joe is that colors, fonts, background images, and font sizes will have to be modified to fit the provisions of the new bill. Furthermore, the blink and marquee tags have been made a felony and autoplay of all music and movies has been disabled. If you own a myspace page, failure to update it to the new standards in 30 days will result in a two-year jail sentence or a $20,000 fine. The bill is expected to hit the Senate this Thursday.

A web page that sits there and does nothing is a perfectly fine web page, as long as it doesn't look like it was made by someone who thinks he needs to share the entire contents of youtube on his myspace, complete with blinking dark gray on an awful black background.

Hmm... I would think the ISOC, IETF, IAB, and of course the W3C would have something to say about the Senate trespassing on their grounds.  Senators might find all of their web-browsers no longer work properly.  ::)

Why do you search with Comcast? We all know the only decent search provider these days is Google. Even Windows Live Search has to entice people with giveaways so that folks will search with them.

tofutakeout, the orginizations that control what can be put in a webpage are these the ISOC, IETF, IAB, and of course the W3C.  The W3C being the main one for standardization of code in web pages.  Their biggest concern currently is making web designers use CSS as much as possible to make code smaller and more compliant with hand held devices that download from the net like cell-phones, IPODS, and PDA's, and standardizing code for the WAI, so people with special needs can use the web easily.  They are also responsible for IPv6.  The newest internet protocol that will be replacing IPv4.  IPv6 uses 128 bit addresses so that there will be 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,347,607,431,768,211,456 addresses on the web as apposed to the 4 billion or so we have now.  I suppose that might be considered an improvement.  Can anyone even tell me what that number is called?  GAH! Anyway everyone will have enough address, so their IPOD, cell-phone, car, computer, other computer, game system, coffe maker, and toaster.  will each have one.    8)  8)  8)  8) WE ARE WATCHING YOU!

yes technology just might. well I actually wasn't worried. it was more of curiosity. ha ha yeah I wouldn't know too much about computers. I know more then the average person but then it sort of stops there. so thats why I didn't really know to believe this at first or what.
