I need some suggestions on how to turn black boots white. I've tried spray painting and white shoe polish. But none of them seem to work out. I'm thinking that I should try actually dying them white. But does anyone know of a shoe dye that lasts long and won't chip or crack? Or have any other solutions that I haven't tried yet?

If the boots are vinyl you may find nothing that will stick well and peels at all the flex points.  If they are leather or maybe you rough up the vinyl with a light sanding or a chemical treatment there is a better product than regular spray paint that has better flex.   There is a spay dye for leather called Nu Life by Meltonian.  I have a 12 OZ can of black in my hand right now, I’m spraying a little on this jacket to cover the scuffmarks, and ha ha Nu Life spray shine is my friend.   It comes in about 30 colors (collect them all) and you may be able to cover a pair of black boot in 3 or 4 light coats from about a foot away.  You might want to take a can to the con to freshen up your boots.

If you’re in Eugene they have it at a store called Oregon leather on Conger St (across from my shop)

Edit    Nu Life my be my friend but I wonder if I should hang out with Ventalation from time to time

I'm not sure if the boots are leather or not.. I don't live in Eugene, but in Canby. But I'll be sure to give this Nu Life spray a try. I'm willing to do just about anything at this point.

Thanks for your help Vondan!

There is another Oregon Leather in Portland I'm not sure what other leather supplies stores are near Canby look in the phone book for leather suppiles or at worst call a shoe repair shop in your town and ask them ware they get there suppiles

@superjaz3p
Duct tape would work for a day or two.  I'm into costume parts that will last forever.

The ultamate solultion for a white boot (what style of boot or for what costume) if you cant find a white boot, get a pait of white leather ice skates at a junk store and resole (Ihave done that with Purple funky Roller skaes for some one) if they are not tall enough get the shaft extended or replaced just like when I take an ankle length and turn it into a tall luxerious thigh high pirate queen boot mmm pirate queens

@ superjaz3p

Duct tape is an interesting concept, but I'm looking for a solution that will me more permanent.

@ Vondan

That may not be a bad idea. Here's the shoes that I'm trying to turn into a female-boot version - Shadow. I think that I should just try going to Goodwill and checking there. But I did find some shoe dyes on Cosplay.com's store. Though I really don't know what kind would work best - http://www.cosplaysupplies.com/leather/leather.html.

Yeah turning any Character into the female version rocks (it worked for Josh Weeden). Although so far every one mocks my all female versions of LXG; Queens Rogues 1899, Shakespeare’s Angels, Elf chicks, Action Girls and Indiana Jane.

The problem with the Liquid dyes as they hint in the fine print it will not work on certain finishes especially if you are trying to cover a dark color with a light one.   The spray dyes are you best bet for that, the Magix brand looks similar to the one I get across the street and you will get the best results following the advice about the Magix brand

" For changing the color of leather goods completely, first strip away any coating with acetone. Then dye the leather with a liquid dye. The leather should then be sprayed with Magix Spray to give a final even coat of color. "

Yeah Fiebing's  nothing more then Fiebing's  wooow wooo wooo Fiebing's

The shadow character’s boot does not look that tall a white roller skate or ice skate should be high enough then sew up something to be the red padded tongue and the red trim and the gold band
