I was of the impression that TODAY was the last day to send in our entries. I sent mine this morning and she's not there . . .

I understood that the last day of submission was today and voting was to begin tomorrow . . . so . . . yeah . . .

wait...voting began today? But doesn't that mean that people who send their entries in today (the dealine) don't have as much of a chance of winning as people who sent them in earlier?

I sent in an entry today and it's not up there :/

a friend of mine was going to enter today =\...And she can't now right?

Also..Erm..you have all the full res versions up there, are you sure you don't want to shrink them down or watermark them with "property of Kumoricon" or something? Cause it wouldn't be hard for anyone to lift those images.

Yeah, it kinda blows how much confusion has happened. One of the bulletins clearly states voting was to begin the 15th, mascot revealed the 16th, so . .. yeah.

I will be putting up the update probably around 5 tonight. All the entriers recieved at that point will be going up.

PLEASE please please I BEG of you: send it in jpg format! Converting these sucks and the site cannot handle the other formats without going batey.

Thanks. Mine was sent as a JPG format. Since it's going to be soooo late when the final update is made, is it possible to extend the voting time at all? We sorta didn't get a very fair chance.

Because not every would see it if it was just in contests and we want everyone to know where and how to vote... So it is both a contest topic for those entring the contest to see where voting is and a general topic to let the general con population know about the vote.

Unfortunately not, it is much like the fan art contest that way. The deadline for our new logo and the poster is 04/16/06 so it is just not possible to extend the vote longer. I literally left the voting to end at the very last second that it can end.

On the bright side, 2007 entrys will be accepted too and have a much longer voting period.

So The voting was VERY close up untill the very last. Every vote has been counted by our program, recounted by myself and by an uninvolved third party: My office coworker. results match on all three so here it is:

NDKumori1: Blue Beauty Kumoriko is our winner and new mascot
Pulled ahead fast in the last hour

Hot on her tail was second place winner MisuKumori4: Our Misterious Kumoriko

And closely followed by our third place winner ALKumori14: Magical Kumoriko

all the pieces were great. the site was impressive. especially unique was the potential to go back and reconsider and alter one's vote.

the only thing we might have done differently would be if after the vote closed, people could still click on the voting site and see which pieces won. probably most of us, myself included, only remember the images, and not the names of the drawings nor of the artists. is there a link for seeing the winner and the runners-up?

also, i would love to be able to go back and see who the artists were, and send pm's to my favorites, complimenting them and inviting them into the art contest in the creation station. is there a way to do that, or perhaps another thread in which they identify themselves?

overall, great work everyone, artists and website coordinators both!

Personally, I'm no good at adding color to my drawings. I can do pencil shading and such but I'm still in the process of using copics to shade with.

a fascinating way to view results, darkerlight. thanks for posting that!

wow! my favorite was the one with the umbrella behind the androgynous figure's back, gosh i shoulda recruited a vote or two! one vote behind. well the reason i so loved it was not only the incorporation of the kumoricon chop and the gorgeousness of the artwork itself, but also because it really stands out as unique. every single entry is stunningly beautiful and would have made a lovely mascot. but this one breaks the norm of cute, light, pixielike figures, with a tinge of sly and you kinda have to wonder what she's up to....kinda looks like someone cooking up a plan, something up her sleeve....gives the semiotic impression of you never know what you can expect, we will surprise you, you will be stunned and amazed by our work, etc.

for some reason it sort of also reminded me of what count d from pet shop of horrors, my current fascination, would look like if he were an 18 year old girl...must be the hair

anyway, great work everyone, including darkerlight for again making creative and unprecedented use of a voting site. would the creator of this particular image described above, mind if i printed a copy of it for myself?

he and all of you should feel free to practice with Copic markers in the Creation Station! copic will once again be the corporate sponsor of the creation station's art contest and related activities, as they were for our work at sakuracon. we will have ink pens, markers, and air brushing equipment available almost all hours that the con is open! just sign them out with your name and badge number and use them only in the room and compete in our contest!
