Interested in having a panel this year?
« on: June 18, 2004, 09:15:04 pm »
So, are any of you out there itnerested in having panels this year?

I really need to know who was interested in having a panel, since I'm the new panel director coordinator type person. I heard about a fanfiction panel and a cosplay panel? Is that right?

Also I would like to know what kinds of things you would be interested in seeing as panels this year. I would like to be able to keep track and to schedule the people with panels, *sweatdrops*

See you all soon I hope,

I don't want to run a panel.

I think that there are a few panels ideas that I would go to, I went to like, one panel last time.

A panel that "explained" confusing anime storylines would be good. I know most of my friends sought group therapy after Evangelion. I know that there's others that explaining helps (FLCL can be explained more than Excel Saga can).

This could be broken down into two panels if you wanted to make one into a "Introduction to Anime, ANI 101?" for the parents and visitors that are there who don't understand their kid's new obsession.

I would very much like a Cosplay Panel again. That's what I went to last year.

Can't think of any more right now.

I know the Zoku will be doing a Cosplay based panel again.  It was very well attended last year.

They'll name it, but it will be presentation/skit based rather than construction.

I would like to do a "Plus Sized Cosplay" panel on Saturday.  It would be for tips on how to hide flaws and accent your assets.  Size 6 people who have proportionally large tummies could also learn some tips, but it would be focused on anyone that fits better in Lane Bryant sized clothes.  (Also, Lane Bryant goes all the way down to a size 12W, so there is tons of overlap between regular missy sizes and woman's sizes).[/i]

this should probably not be in general... not sure.  general is more general... this is rather specific.  :-P

I know of a lot of people that would benefit from this.
I wouldn't bring it up but I have a lot of friends who're like "I'd cosplay this year! *blush*...... if I could find a character of my body type...."

I obviously don't have that problem, what with my fuku and all....

I could do that.

Now, while there's some characters who require a certain body type, most really don't.

I could so go for a plus-sized cosplay panel.  So =D It was really frustrating last year, figuring out how to get everything to work out when the closest pattern that looked VAGUELY like what I wanted and that I could find to my size was ten sizes too small =D;;

I'd also like some sort of general panel... I'm not sure whether it applies to just art and fiction, but it would be nice to have a seperate panel for giving and taking constructive criticism.  I don't know how often its used for cosplay, though, and I'm not sure if there's any other con-related areas (beyond art and writing, I mean) that would have any use for it, but it's something I really wish was perpetuated more, because it's a really nice thing to have and a really rare thing to get p__q;

Last year, there was a webcomic panel scheduled, but I don't think it ended up happening.  It'd be really great if you could do one of those, and if you need someone to help out with it, I've got two (and two half) webcomics of my own (which SHOULD be updating regularly again now that I'm FINALLY out of the prison they call public education =D) that've been running for two and three years, respectively =3  I have no idea what would have gone on at such a panel (web comic appreciation, where everyone goes and grovels at the feet of Penny Arcade, Megatokyo, and Mac Hall?  How to make a webcomic? The key ingredients to a successful, lasting webcomic? Why sprite comics are bad/evil/heinous/good/heavenly/beautiful?), but... oh well =D

I know there are going to be some Portland Costumers that had offered to do some other cosplay panels, so that should be available for you.

I'm going through tons of web sites and finding pictures of great costumes on non-perfect bodies for some examples.  I'm getting the other type of example too, but I'm looking at pics from small east cost cons for those pics and I'll blank the face out just in case, and talk about what could have been done to make the costume work better.
