Hotel info and Costume stuff...
« on: August 28, 2004, 03:16:29 pm »
oki... this might be in the wrong section but i have never been to one of these so i dont know all the details... being a resident of this area, do i have to stay at the hotel or can i just walk there?
also can i wear a costume even though i might not do the cosplay competition?
im assuming that both of these questions are answered yes... so if no one replys by next week thats what im going to think...

one more question... is the cosplay competition only one of the three days? and if not and you are in it does that mean you can only wear one costume all weekend?

Please reply. thankyou

To answer your questions:

1) You don't have to stay in a hotel, but it is reccomended and appreciated by those running it.

2) You absolutely can wear a costume w/o being in the contest.

3)The actual contest is on Sunday, but I believe the Hall Cosplay will be going on for the whole weekend. You can wear as many costumes as you want throughout the duration of the con.

:)

Hope this helps.

You answered that perfectly.  :)

Me and my judging buddies will be on duty on and off all weekend and looking for costume fun.  Not only that, if you are attending the con and see a staff member wearing a great costume, you can put them down for a Hall Cosplay award as well.

i will keep my eyes peeled for staff costumes too then... lol.. you prolly will recognize me when i get there... lol... i will be the one with wide eyes and acting very very hyper/excited... with a miyazaki themed costume each day...

There will be a much more readable schedule on the web soon.  You'll get a con book when you register and they'll be printed schedules.

All kinds of things are going on at once.  The games and viewing rooms are always going, and there are the panels to watch.  You don't have to stay through all of anything, you can move from event to event as you like.

People will be hanging out hours before anything starts to get registered.  Since usually about half of the people pre-register and half pay at the door, you want to get there in plenty of time to get your badge if you want to get to an event that starts at a certain time.

Missing from the schedule is pre-register check-in, which is Friday at 7pm, and registration starts at 8am Saturday.

Oh, I hate to be pesky (and to double post... again) but I just read a scary thing... it was a consent form for minors who are 13 to 17... well I am 17 but I was planning on going alone... is that not allowed?... do I have to find someone to baby-sit me while I am there? Because my parents are planning a Shakespeare weekend for themselves... and therefore cannot come with me. What if they signed a letter saying they will be responsible for anything I do or maybe talked to those of you that are in charge? If that doesn’t work for you maybe you will take my most sincere promise that I will not rough house or do anything obnoxious during the entire convention... would that be enough?
