Plushie-play? Plushie-kerade?? (Mouse-kerade?)
« on: February 17, 2007, 12:28:23 pm »
I've heard of this happening at other conventions. It's a bit random and certainly silly. I suppose we could count it as a panel, rather than a secondary cosplay performance...  Opinions?? Shall we? ( er, prizes for winners will be something equally eclectic )

So perhaps some time around noon on Monday....
Do you have a plushie that's been begging for a chance to appear on
stage?  A teddy bear ready to emote as Ichigo from Bleach, or
perhaps My Shinigami Pony?  Give it the opportunity to strut!
It's a cheesy cosplay presentation just for them!

Make an outfit for the plushie.  Provide documentation if you think it would help. We will have sound (a boombox) for CDs, lights (on/off, plus a possible followspot flashlight if there is a demand).  If you forget to bring
music, you may sing....
If you forget to bring a plushie, the vendors in the dealer's room will be happy to help you obtain one.

There will not be tech rehearsal.
Presentations are limited to 45 seconds. If you have a group, contact director and we'll think of something...
bribing judges with chocolate is not allowed...
Stage size will be whatever table we can confiscate in the room we get.

Rules:
Animal must be dressed; no costume is no costume.
Presenter must be inconspicuous (in Japan pupeteers wear all black -- Ninja costume time!! ); pay no attention to the person with their hand holding the mouse's neck....
Time limit - 45 seconds; no stage hogging!
Further rules TBA as they occur to us.

I Kit bash outfits for 1/6 scale figures and then I top them off with a real tiny leather jacket.  I could use my Velma and Willow action figures and have Velma cosplay willow and make willow cosplay Velma

would handmade plushies that are characters count as being "plushies in cosplay"  or would a mr saturn also have to be wearing sailor moon buns?

OMG! Cute Animal Cafe!
*Ms Sakaki Nosebleed*

This is an awesome idea and I think that it would make an excellent panel or event, especially if we could get a good picture of the winner up on the big screen at closing ceremonies.

I think you'd have to judge on three factors. Cuteness, Costume Quality, and Best in Show (the combination of the two).

Someone needs to take a cabbage patch dolle and make a Chiyo-chan penguin costume for it.

Well, sounds like I'll have to get a costume made for one of my plushies to play the "MC"... maybe I'll make Kon (from Bleach) and stick him in a school uniform. heh heh heh

This needs to be video taped and then shown before closing ceremonies.

Honestly the MC should be a puppet. I've got a great big frog puppet that'd do the job, AND it can wear people clothes. If this event happens I'm seriously going to put my Fuku top on him.

Consider it a "happening" thing even if it suddenly shows up in the "Random Panel of Doom" as I'll be running it (OF COURSE I'd prefer a *real* room, official scheduled time, prize budget and all that.)  If there is no budget, don't worry - we have ways of making prizes even if we have to assemble something from junk found in the recycle bin and color it in with old crayons swiped from the kids' area....

Since this event requires cheeziness and intense silliness, the film version would REQUIRE the presence of the anime equivalent of the MST3K guys at the bottom of the screen.

Vondan: this is a FAMILY event... we aren't allowed to make those kinds of comments....  :-P

Remind me to ducttape your mouth when you arrive at the plushie-kerade.

No because that's a Furry. Furries belong in regular Cosplay event.   :)

I'm pretty sure that mascot costumes don't count as plushies.

Also, Toady had a hand-hole in the back of his chest. He can sit just fine on his own and if he was in costume he'd probably have it covered up.

PS, congratulations on making 100 posts Runa!

I have heard from what little I know (not that I read about that kind of thing) that mascot costumes are included in the whole furry and plushie fetish. Of course if I knew more about that sort of thing I'd be able to sell more of that "Special leather"

PG-13 Convention.
They don't count as plushies not in this thread.
<_<    >_>
We're not that kind of convention. Even after hours.

Since this is a family event -- maxes out @ PG-13 -- the plushies are ordinary stuffed animals dressed in costumes from anime / game characters (or Japanese clothing!).

Hentai & fetish-type stuff related to plushes belongs at the furry conventions, 'K? Go sit in the corner Vondan. (where's Bokusatsu Tenshi's cluebat when you need it? )
