IPRC = Independant Publishing Resource Center
http://www.boingboing.net/2006/11/20/portland_freegeek_ri.htmlhttp://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/11/20/200212This is so very uncool. Robbing banks who are both insured and well-protected is one thing but what kind of creep robs a nonprofit? I hope whoever did it gets caught and has some extra traumatic experiences in jail.
I for one consider these nonprofits to be Kumoricon's siblings, they provide essential services to the same people we do by offering cheap resources to access the Internet and print publishing. And the clearly-connected thefts at both locations hits me particularly close. So even if you don't think you can be any help with catching the thieves, please consider donating to either or both nonprofits. We count on them for more than we realize.
If anyone knows anything, or sees some old laptops on sale anywhere (particularly if they're loaded with Ubuntu,) please call FreeGeek and the IPRC and maybe also the police directly. FreeGeek also has an
information page up so read it and be on the look out.

blog post offers some more helpful information for identifying the pilfered laptops.
