Cosplay Competition Forms and Rules on Website!
« on: April 26, 2007, 08:30:48 am »
Huzzah! The forms and rules documents for Cosplay have been posted to the Kumoricon website.  :D
http://www.kumoricon.org/?page_id=18
About half way down the page. Please download and use as many as applicable for your groups. You may email the completed doc files to me, however since the waiver must have a real signature on it, be sure that each member of the group signs a copy of the waver and brings it to the convention.
We will have info at the convention about where you can turn in your cosplay forms (most likely infobooth, or hand directly to cosplay manager)

Excellent.
I have converted both the forms into PDFs on my site, but I probably won't try making sloppy fillable versions of them for a little while. We're very busy at work this week.

They were already PDFs. :)

I deliberated over how to format the links when a document was available in two formats...for every document, I indicated the format in brackets (because people like a warning before opening a PDF in a browser), but if it was in two formats, I made the first format indicator not a link, and only the different formats a link. The alternative was making the title of a document not a link, but I thought that would look "weird" because the text would be a link when it was available in one format, but not two.

So I hope that made sense...in short, it appears you missed the fact that PDFs are available as well as Word. :)

I noticed you had both. However, since the PDFs are not editable, most people would not be able to fill out and email 'em (without printing, filling in info, scanning in and THEN emailing of course). I know you said you'd be getting editable PDFs, so we'll watch for those. Anyway, it means that the ambitious ones can start submitting their cosplay documents to me.  :D  YEY!!!

Ah, OK good. I was wondering about that.

Well that's some time wasted then..... Oh well.
It's good to have a back up. :D

The fillable versions (sloppy as they are when I do it) will be long coming because of the sheer number of fields I'll have to make.

I have to do it on my breaks at work but I'll get 'em done eventually.

Well, one advantage of the Word Doc is that if there are more participants than the document lists in the table it is very easy to add more rows in the table to add more participants. With the PDF, if they have more participants than (I think I put 10 in there) the number of rows listed, they would have to fill out a second form and then note someplace that it's continued in next PDF....

That's why I left the Word documents. Because the PDFs aren't fillable yet, so you can "fill" the Word docs. Which is actually what a lot of web sites do for this sort of thing, instead of making fillable PDFs.
