Go to PSU, it's in Portland so you have the best chance of finding a part time job and cool people who share your interests!

SOU is an OK school but its so far from anything else and you're more likely to be stuck with lame otaku for friends.

Got nothing bad to say about OSU. Not too remote, OK community, just not as BIG a variety as you'll get in Portland.

PSU i like cause it is close (45 minute drive, i could live at home if i NEEDED to). However, i have friends in the area around OSU. I also have many friends going to SOU, and its the best school for me to try and pull down an acting degree. True that it is remote though....

Depends on what you want to do. OSU has the best engineering program in the state!

It also has a rocking Agriculture program.

PSU has good language programs and Education.

As you said, SOU is good for Acting.

PSU is a third rate, hack institution.  I got my masters there.  For undergrad, I recommend going the liberal arts college route.  It treated me right.

*will be at PSU in the fall c:*
haha come to PSU with uuuuusssssss *zombie eyes* "Brraaaainnnnnssss"

I was also debating whether to go to PSU or SOU, it's just that SOU is so small :\ and they kinda specialize in just a few things like acting and business.

But remember if you don't like the school you choose you can always transfer! so don't worry if you're unhappy ^.^

But if you come to PSU, you WON'T be unhappy. The place rocks!

sarcasm aside, it's a great university, with one of the most diverse course listings I've ever seen. Where else can you take Latin, Japanese and Finnish all in the same term (if it were possible to do without your mind eating your tonsils)?

Great school. *thumbs up & a smile*

I was going to do the Teaching program and OSU, but i ended up breaking my jaw and setting all my plans back about a year. So now im having the "Be an actor and get paied ridculous sums of money and have a lot of fun... if im lucky... or be a teacher, be dull and get not much money (but lots of vacation time) for sure" Debate. Since i cant seem to win that argument, im turning to the "Which school is better" one, and seeing if something can come of that.

well lets see, from what ive heard osu is really bad for the...social minority groups. like nerdy people, its kinda a harsh party school and unless youre going there for natural sciences or music really not worth it.

ashland sucks.

Psu is an OK school.  my personal stand point on it is that theres no reason to take your first two years there.  PCC is an awesome school and in a very simaler area, and then psu takes all thier credits and you dont have to take the stupid inquiry courses.  also pcc japanese program, even though it only goes 2 years is way better from what ive heard about the psu system.

and as far as reed goes.... be either from an exedingly wealthy or and exedingly poor family (or have a parent working there) cause good lord that place is spendy and dosent give merti based scholarships. and is also a **** ton of work.  a couple of my friends go to/went there and good lord the amount of anxiety caused illnesses.  also they all seem to take a year off and go to psu anyway to cool down.

i go to psu....i feel meh about it, but ive been in school for 3 years and just want to finnish, ive swithced arround so much and changed my major 5 times, id change it again if i could...stupid graphic design.

Suddenly I'm picturing the movie "Animal House" but with an anime theme in it instead.
Everyone is always in cosplay....
Everyone has an anime character nickname....
"I've given this a lot of thought.  From now on, your new nickname will be... Shinji."
"Why Shinji?"
*Blech* "Why not?"

Actually I'm a Duck. And I work there too. So all of your choices stick to me. I would rather see another Reedie, or Oxfordite, or something worth something.

PSU if you want big city life.

OSU if you like beer.

SOU if you like things you can go to jail for.

Or so I have heard...

I've heard that about Reedies! It's either the nuclear reactor, or the Meth Lab. No gray areas.

So have we trashed all our local universities yet?

I'm looking forward to driving up to Portland to see some viking football games now! When the ducks aren't at home that is.

i attended psu gssw (graduate school of social work) commuting from eugene so i barely met anyone outside of my classes and was not part of the campus community. there were definitely some cool profs (and hey, our famous panelist toni levi has been an associate prof there!). but you have to REALLY want to be in an urban environment to go there. at least it's in the "fareless square" buswise. parking there sucks.

Try UMass, Amherst -- they have their own science fiction and anime conventions right on campus. Plenty of gamers around, the UMass science fiction club is awesome, and there are 2 women's colleges nearby  :D
(Smith College, where I went, and Mt. Holyoke College) UMass Amherst is close enough to the town of Amherst to allow you to find great places to hang out, yet not in/near a big city. Boston is about 2 hours away, so if you really want to go to a city, it's there...
