Spraypaint question
« on: July 23, 2007, 11:24:31 am »
So I am researching the best way to make a Death Note for my cosplaying needs, and the best method seems to be spray painting a composition notebook. I am just wondering if spraypaint will feel tacky/sticky if it's exposed to the sun a lot (since I'll be carrying it around with me during the con). Please help?

Depends on what spraypaint you are using and things like that and are you going to be laying clear down

if you are going to be using latex spraypaint or something of that nature yes it will probably feel alittle sticky

but if you go with your run of the mill spraypaint aswell as getting a gloss coat spraypaint you should be just fine...

I've never spray painted anything like a notebook..but it does work well for metals. And as puck said, if you put a clear coat on it, there shouldn't be much texture if anyl. At least in my experience.

your talking like a spiral notebook right?  not a 3 ring binder?  cause the fact that spirals are generally made of paper (very absorbant) will make it less likely to be sticky.  and like they said you would really want to avoid latex spray paint...and be sure your notebook is actually cured and not just dry.

I'll probably get one of the composition notebooks with the stiff covers or something that has floppy covers and is a bit bigger like the Death Note...I guess it all depends what my local Office Max or Wal-Mart has in stock.

Well, that depends. Is this all you have left to do for your costume, or are there other things you have to make? Cause if this is the last thing, I'd say make it yourself (if you are confident in your skills), but if you have other things you have to work on, I'd say order this and then work on something else. Kinda like getting two things done at the same time.

Well pretty much yeah...I know where I'm gonna get my shoes and I'm going shopping with totemo and hitokiri so I'll prolly buy the accessories then; it's like 30 bucks for that notebook with shipping so I think I'll make it myself ^____^
