I played a japanese version of this with a few excange students but with a twist , they called it drop the handkerchief here is a site about it (although I like the rules we played by better):
http://fun.families.com/blog/drop-the-handkerchiefbasicly its like duck duck goose but you have to pay more attention because you could not know that you are the goose if you are not paying attention, here are the rules we played by:
everyone sits in a circle facing in, except for the person with the handkerchief.
the person with the handkerchief walks around holding it until they decide to drop it behind
they then try and make one loop around (back to the spot they dropped the handkerchief) before the other person can catch them.
when the person who has the handkerchief behind them realizes it they pick it up and chase after the other person.
if the person catches up they get to sit back down, if not they are the new person.
later we added a couple of rules to make it harder
we played for points and made it so you had to too go around twice before sitting down. you got a point if you were tagged when being chased, or lapped while chasing. first too 3 had to do something (in our case recite something in Japanese)
some l33t strats:
I would walk arround and drop the handkerchief and keep walking slowly until the person realized it and got up, then i would run.
another strat was if you didn't notice for a while and don't think you could catch up you go slow and then drop it asap then just keep walking.
if anyone is interested in it or this was fuzzy I will check back here later
