I'm new to the area...
« on: August 17, 2007, 02:25:18 pm »
...and looking to meet people at the con!! :)

I'm originally from the East Coast (Maryland to be exact) and I used to attend cons at least once a year. I've been going to Otakon in Baltimore, MD and Katsucon, which is usually in somewhere Virginia, since about 2002. I moved to Portland back in February of this year and I haven't really had a chance to meet anyone who likes to play video games or watch anime and stuff. I was planning on trying to make it up to Kumoricon on Saturday for a few hours and then coming back down to Portland but I was hoping maybe I could meet someone to hang out with for a while so I'm not just wondering around aimlessly. Anyone interested??

Well, welcome to the West Coast, first! and welcome to Kumoricon!

I'll be there, hanging out and wandering around all weekend. I'd be glad to meet up and do whatever, show you around the Con. ^_^ Wandering aimlessly is fun, but way more fun with others, heh.

You've come to the right place! Welcome! If you want to dive in and see what makes a convention tick, and start meeting some of the people involved, you should come to our August 25 meeting. Meetings are open to the public!
you can find out more details on the main Kumoricon page - kumoricon.org

In case anyone is interested, I was looking through some older files on my computer and found some pics from Katsu and Otakon '06:

The game room. I spent many an hour in here. Losing mostly but still...

Someone was tossing free Pocky or something down to the crowd but it's usually about that packed down there because of the photoshoots.

Ah, sore geemingu-ruumu wa totemo ookii desu nee! (That gaming room is freakin huge!) I'm used to what we've got here at Kumoricon, and I considered what we've got to be just right, plenty of games to play and enough to do, but looking at that room......that place totally dwarfs us, lol. I'm amazed.

Yeah but they also have over 10,000 people who attend the con, so proportionately it has to be bigger ^^

Welcome Rumble Fish! I moved here 2 years ago from Massachusetts so hello to a fellow East Coaster!! Hope you have a great time at the con! If you seeme please say hi! <3
