alrighty here for some of us early birds who are already getting fabric and deciding our cossplays this is where im starting the thread.

this a thread to track your progress on things, get advice along the way, get motivated by fellow cossplayers, and see how far others are coming!

i havnt seen a thread like this yet and thought it might be handy through out the year.

GUIDE LINES:
1. try to post your progress in top of your post in a precent. (like 0.00001% for realy you plan to cossplay but dont know what to do, 1.% for picking it out, 5% for starting to get some supplys and so on) all though this is not required its helpfull
2. be kind and curtios to your fellow posters.
3. NO FLAMING COSSPLAYS! advice on a few things is always welcome but saying "your cossplay is COMPLETELY HORIBLE!" is not aceptible.

these are my costumes so far! ive picked out a few wigs but im having some trouble finding the wig for the first one. o.o i picked one out http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=25859&cat=2487&page=1 but they dont have it in white odly enough O.o any one know how long it should take them to have it in stock for white?

So far, all I've done is order my wig. I know I'm going to need some shoes for my outfit.. which makes me kind of nervous. I mean, I'm going to have to goto the mall or something.. and pick out women's shoes (plus whatever miscellaneous things I decide on .. gloves, stockings?). And, they'll either think 1) boy, this guy sure is funny! What is this, a costume contest?! or 2) this guy is a freaking perv!

I'll probably end up having a girl friend come with me and help me. That way it won't look so weird. >_>;

Mana (YuGiOh) is still in the planning stage, but won't be too hard to get started on and finish in time for SakuraCon.
I'm working on her magic staff and have figured out exactly how I'm going to finish it.  >:3
Also, I have a few fabrics in mind and the pattern in my head.  ^^

I'm putting off Pharaoh (Again, YuGiOh) until summer other than the 20% that I already have done.

As for the others, I'm still throwing around ideas.

Since I decided to do only one new costume per year so as not to stab my bank account in the heart with a stake I spent my day at work lookin up charas and I have decided on Princess Marlene from Okage: Shadow King! Well, Mana's for SakuraCon first, so I figure I should get it done as soon as possible.  xD  Then again, it might be because I've procrastinated a lot in the past.
And I need to do some wireworking.  That'll take a while.

Well, I'm thinking since the costume I'm planning on getting is pink/black, that I'll try to get some pink shoes. Maybe with black trim. And then maybe a black pair. Perhaps with pink trim. And then 2 pairs of stockings/leggings or something: one pink and one black. And even some gloves, maybe. I figure that'll give me a lil' more life out of my costume if I have interchangeable stuff. >_>

(I now totally understand how girls can spend so much money on shoes and stuff..)

I'm not too keen on the idea of wearing high heels. If I have to, I will.. but.. yeah..

I also want to get a Japanese like, bikini magazine.. so I can walk around and say, "These are Hideki's yummies!"

Help bit: Anyone have any idea how exactly the thing around his neck is done?
Also, if anyone has any ideas on how I could be cutting my hair, I'd love it.

Can't help with his neck thing, sorry.  I say, if you can't figure out how its tied, just sew it that way.

Lets see, hair help.  Well, first, shorter, and with bangs, and bleached a bit.  I actually recommend buying a wig, though.  Unless you're willing to wear lots of hairspray, or have particularly magical hair, it can be sooo difficult to get anime hair out of actual hair.  It's much easier to style a wig, since you can just leave it like that, and it wont grow out or need to be washed or anything.  I'd go with this wig or this one.  Both would need styling, obviously...and you never know, your hair might be prefect once its cut ^_~

I figure once I add some bangs, it should be proper. My hair'll wind up being re-bleached by the time I'm ready for a convention, so no worries. (I have a think about my strawyberry blonde hair......I adore it so. xD)
Thing is, though, I REALLY can't afford a wig. -dies- I only spent 25 bucks on the entire of my costume, for petes sake. xD; -soooo poor at times-

Actually, I'm waiting for things to go OFF of sales! Meaning, they sale price things at like 30% off, but I want to use my 40% off coupon T_T. All the good stuff is always on sale when there are coupons. CHEATERS!

I've got four cosplays so far:

Duo from Gundam Wing: 80%
Mostly done, but I want to add demon wings and a scythe. Then I just have to organize my friends into the other four pilots...

Kiba from Naruto: 85%
I need to finish my shoes, make my shuriken pouch, make bandages, and get an Akamaru. Totally easy, since I have all the materials except for Akamaru.

Hayner from Kingdom Hearts II: 80%
Wore this costume for 2007, but anyone who saw me will agree that it was the worst Hayner ever. XD;; So I need to restyle the wig and fix up the shoes and ChibiBats. Then I gotta help Riku from 2007 make her Seifer cosplay. :3

Gojyo from Saiyuki: 0%
Haven't even started! XD This will be my big summer project. The rest of my friends are planning on being the other four, too.


Don't know which ones I'm gonna' wear to the actual con and which one to the MiniCon (if there is one, which there should be!). I'll prolly be Kiba to the MiniCon since that one's a stand-alone cosplay, but we'll see. Maybe I can get some friends to be other Naruto charas. ^^

Ok so I finished Dorochet's white "jacket" thing today, and it looks awesome so I'm done with about 75% of what I have to do for that costume.
And a couple of days ago I made a FMA military skirt based on Sheska's without a pattern. and it turned out pretty well. so I'm gonna call that one 30% done. of two seperate costumes.

I have a very solid game plan for this one and just bought the acrylic sheet today for the glasses. Once the ball gets rolling I think it'll come together pretty fast XD;;

The JoAnns in Tigard is having a 1.99 sale right now on Simplicity patterns. I just picked up the patterns I'd need for Sakuracon since the ones I need for Kumoricon next year wont be out until the Spring T_T

Okay, don't know if I'm actually going to wear these particular costumes to Kumori Con (it's too far away) but as far as cosplays I'm working on/have recently completed/may very well end up wearing:

Akane's school uniform. The dress is at 95%. I just need to make the bow properly and add some snaps to the back closure. For the blouse, I just have to hem it and sew a button onto the neck opening.

Lum's school uniform. The skirt is done, and the top is at 70%. I have to add on the other sleeve, collar, and cuffs, the light blue trim, and make the scarf. Wig is complete.

Also, just purchased everything I need for Shinji Ikari's school uniform (thank god, something I don't need a pleated skirt for!) Pretty much all I have to do are make his little white hair thingies and get my hair cut.

alright started working on the some of things im buying for the merleawe costume... the only part im making is her jacket thing. and the wig already came. i want to get her done rather fast because its also going to be my halloween costume. im going up to my aunts (an award winning semestriss) to help me sew it since i am still bad at sewing. x.x but after that i just got to style the wig by the stockings, shoes, skirt and make the staff.... soo im going to say im about 10% at the momment and after this weekend i will be at 40%

well i just finished sewing the jacket piece for merle's costume.... problem is i made the flaps of her skirt come down to my knees.... they were saposed to come down to my ankles! D: i have enough fabric that i can fix this (i made the mistake at my aunts house this weekend didnt realise it till i got home half an hour ago) but do i want to? D: it might look kinda weird since i dont have enough fabric to just replace all four flaps, just enough to add on to them.

Hmmm. Well, at the moment I figure I'm completely done with one of my costumes (Tifa), but now I need to figure out how to make my top for my Ember costume not show my entire bra on one side... T_T I'm spray-dyeing my hair for that one, so no wig. With guitar for Ember McLane, 90% done. Without, 75%. The shoes were a bitch.

Yuffie Kisaragi (original game canon FFVII): 10% as of the end of this weekend when I finish the shoulder armor. This costume is going to get done or I'll die trying!

Lucrecia Crescent (FFVII Dirge of Cerberus): 75%, my hair needs to get longer, I need to find better shoes than the ones I have access to and I need to go to the uniform supply store at the mall to get a doctor's labcoat.

Kairi (Kingdom Hearts 2): 5%, I have the fabric and lace but I still need zippers, lavender Converse, metal pieces for the belt and rubber bracelets.
