« on: October 18, 2007, 09:58:31 pm »

my friend mira who lives in finland invited me to be her face book friend but it wouldnt let me register....why you may ask
because you have to enter your real name and i entered my real name but they said it was fake!
real name : Jasmine Lady
i sent them an e-mail explaining about it, and how it was my real name and i got this as a responce
"Hi,

Fake names are a violation of our Terms of Use. Facebook requires
users to provide their full first and last names (i.e. no initials).
Impersonating anyone or anything is prohibited.  Nicknames are only
permitted if they
are a variation of your first or last name. Also,
nicknames cannot be used in replacement of your first or last name.
The accepted format is as follows: FirstName 'Nickname' LastName.
Thanks for your understanding,"
soooo yeah they did not read the e-mail i sent them saying it wasnt a fake name but no i must be crazey
chris sez they are just full of crap,
please join me in bashing face book!

Pretty lame. Just from a strictly technical point of view, it was probably because both your first and last name are also "real" words, and as for the last name, not commonly used as a name.

What I can't believe is they didn't have a better method for resolving this issue in the general case.  That is, some way of verifying it actually is your real name.
