spamming the spam forum - Bylaws help anyone?
« on: January 09, 2008, 09:45:18 pm »
Generally, I expect people to come in here for two reasons, to have unstructured fun, or kill time.

Mostly for those second such, I propose that you instead consider helping out in the Bylaws thread.

I need your help, fresh ideas, new drafts, or even just proofreading my draft for clarity, and various spelling/grammar mistakes I might have missed due to lacking grammar-check (one of the main drawback to OOo.. but for free... it does a great job.).

I'd even appreciate constructive criticism in other areas...

These could become or influence the bylaws that will effect you, the Staff, the Membership, and the Public who wants to join us, even if just for 3 days a year.

It should be "Spamming".

I can't seem to open that attached file, but I'm not sure how much help I'd be...

The attached file is an html file, like you'd see on a website.  You may have to associate that file-type to a web browser, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.

In case you still can't open it, but only if you try, I'll post it in some other format if requested.

Also, Please reply in the official thread for anything specifically relating to that area, as it is on topic for that sticky topic in the general forums.

I didn't realise it was open to editing.  I'll probably proofread it and come up with some suggestions when I'm done playing Diablo 2 tonight.

Well... my unofficial one is.  I'll also not join the Committee unless they agree all future drafts be published.  I do not expect instant unification, though I will likely strive for that in my drafts.

It's been about half a month.  I've had a new draft up for 5 days without a single download, and in the ~2weeks my last draft was up it saw 2 downloads.

Click on the lovely little hyperlink the forms makes for the Quote header to get to the Bylaws! thread and the download area.
Lacking other input to my version of the Bylaws, I hit up that lovely ORS65 document and spent a few hours reading it and making my head explode.  However I made sure to mark the interesting sections I saw through the haze of pain, and later revised my bylaws to incorporate compliance for them, and a few of the better ideas they seemed to suggest.

I think these are nearing a finished version.  What I need help with most are all the FIXMEs left in there, as well as the whole of the descriptions for elected positions in general.  Since I already had a thread dedicated to that I thought I could collect a bit more input there first and see about getting a good solid description in place.

Everyone, please actually read this version.  If I don't get any further input or review I fear there may be inadequates left when I make a motion for the bylaws committee to officially review and comment publicly on my draft.
