I've been known to show up at the hotel with sewing machine and fabric and finish assembling a costume within hours of the start of a convention...
This sounds vaguely familiar...
Only in my case, it's usually done sometime in the wee hours of the second con morning. Or later. Depends on what day the outfit's needed for.
I'm trying to get more sewing work done before leaving home so the only things that need to be completed at con are things like wig trimming. My new sewing machine's heavy, and I'd rather not bring it, but the new job I started last week has eaten several days intended to be devoted to cosplay construction.
