Good photoshoot locations?
« on: December 10, 2008, 08:20:49 pm »
Well I'm thinking as soon as I finish a cosplay I'm in the middle of me and my friend may want to go take a photoshoot, my crazy friend is doing our make up (she is the one who is the master behind the face of my blue chocobo) and I'm trying to arange for a friend of mine who is good with cameras to take the photos but one problem...

where to shoot?

I was thinking maybe the Japanese Gardens, or the Rose Garden, or maybe even the Luis and Clark campus.... but I dunno.

any one have any sugestions for a place?

well it depends on the cosplay. we found this really cool courthouse type building down town(not the actual courthouse) and we thought it'd be perfect for pheonix wright(of course), hellsing, maybe trinity blood, and one other.

any fountainy areas or alley ways are great places. hell I saw one great R.O.D. cosplay taken in an immense book store. it was awesome.

no modern looking churches. good churches are the old ones. old buildings in general are great places oto shoot. along with certain food places. :3

Well I live in front of a park with a big wetland area and also a small forest so that is always a good spot. Also near my house there is a nice little pond type area. If anyone is familiar with the Tigard area it is the lake that is next to Home Depot and the Lake Oswego Bally's. That's where I got my senior pictures taken ;D

When I think of a church I think of St. Mary Parish in Mt. Angel.  I go inside and listen to the harp & flute playing during Oktoberfest.  This church is awesome!  I would recommend the Japanese Gardens as well, but it is getting a bit late for a lot of the nice flowers.  Might be better to do that one in the spring or early summer.  If you do go to Mt. Angel for pictures your almost to Silver Falls.  Not sure how much water they have at this time of year, but you can get some great shots on those trails.  I don't know what cosplay you are going to wear, so it is hard to give suggestions.

Are you talking at the con?  Because on the park blocks there are plenty old churches.

Pioneer square would be a good place too, just a couple blocks from the hotel.
Yaoi crossplay... is actually Yuri.

hmmm its kinda a dramatic cosplay, and a church plays a big part with the character.... (she kinda dies in one)

no not talking about during hte con, i am going to be doing a photoshoot with my friend whos cosplaying with me, and two of my other firends one doing make up the other taking the pictures.

a church and garden like places seem like htey would be the best... the story itself is a bit depressing, and our characters have some of the sadder storys.... so something dramatic is what i'm looking for

Garden's is a good place.
It usually depends on theme.
Like if...it's Shukagen no Shana [/or something] a good place would be in like a place full of metal or abandoned.
If it's like Misa from DN a good place would be in a dark room with red and stuff. If it's shinigami a place with shadows is perfect.
For things like Orgy 13 stuff, churches is a good thing. Someplace cute such as for Ouran photoshoots would be good in a rose garden or a tea place.
Something like Air gear, a place with high ground is a good idea.
If you have a more thing like vocaloid a good place is an open area like.....I donno some side area of a traditional con place i guess....
photo places really depend on the cosplays o-o That's my advice!

I wish it would snow more often. I have no cosplays finished nor anyone to take some pictures in my cosplay. :/ it sucks living farther away from people. but yeah snow is a good back drop and atmosphere for pictures. :3

I have this perfect place right next to where I live where it's just grass and it's covered in show and there's a giant rock there.
PERFECT for cosplay winter photoshoot
There's also a small stream a tiny ways away, ALSO PERFECT for a winter photoshoot.
And it's snowing too.....[/looks out window] K it WAS snowing..
but it's perfect! Somewhere with water is always a good idea if it has something to do with he cosplay.

wow you have some amazing places near you. the best I have is all the plants in my backyard, a little corner in the back part behind the house, and this really cool hanging tree in the front. yeah water is definitely always a great choice to go with.

I ran outside taking pictures of the show from my balcony XD There's SOO MUCH SNOW!
Oh parks are traditional places to take pictures, I find it funny to take pictures at the mall.
There's some good picture spots with not a lot of people here at the clackamas mall

there is a lot of good places there actually. mostly outside though. depends on the park though. if it has a play ground then a fun loving character would be good there or just fun photos in general.

Yeah I could do that but I may have to work (I really really don't want to work)

Anyway his hometown is kinda like what it looks like outside if the snow is half way melted and you can see the ground ;D

somewhere with lights is also a good place.
like neon if your character/s is party likeXD
like those neon pictures of cosplayers flying around from con. those were good uses of the braclets.
