So, how do/did you get to the con, eh?
« on: September 11, 2008, 09:46:13 pm »
We all take various modes of transportation to get to KumoriCon, so let's share ours.

Me, I took the Amtrak train. It was worth it, and I got to see a good deal of the land along the way. It was fantastique.

If I could, I'd get there by motorcycle- my dad says there may be a few limitations to them, but it makes for a nicer ride as well. And, I might name my motorcycle "The Cosmic Machine!"

Just for clarification's sake, for you people reading this that are actually from OR- OR state law requires all motorcyclists, regardless of age to have a helmet on at all times, right?

A proud attendee of Kumoricon and SakuraCon.

I drove the 3 hrs it takes to get there from home, then for some stupid reason was thinking that the Lloyd Center exit was after the Emmanuel Hospital exit, so ended up getting off at Swan Island and swinging around (I went to college in P-town so I should know the streets, dumb me).  Then I parked my car, and was very thankful they were only charging 5 dollars a day for parking instead of 18.

The train would be nice, but alas I live 75 mi from the Eugene station, and I will always have to work on Tuesday after the con, so I cant take the chance I would get stuck on a late train.

MAX each day, yay for 53 minute trips!

Also set some poor souls straight one day, few people I talked to saw a cosplayer get on a few stops after ours, they started whispering amongst themselves about "low self esteem" and all that, whoo boy I said it in a calm voice but did I let them know what was happening.

tl;dr- normal people now know what a anime convention is

(I think I am abusing my edit posts rights...not sure)

We drove there on Friday and drove away from there on Monday. Any traveling done between those dates was done on foot, heh.

Pick-Up truck; had to get a bunch of gear there for the DDR.  Would have ridden my brand new racing bike otherwise.

I got a ride from a family member. I only live about fifteen minutes away from Llyod Center so it wasn't too far.
Pfft, I've been slacking off on getting my driver's license. I should really get it... some day. XD

Greyhound from Eugene - after an 8 hour delay on Amtrak a while back, I have boycotted them.
Once in town, borrowed dad's vehicle.  Super handy.  Next year...a room though.  I get lost on the way home too easily.
