Festival Japan 2008
« on: September 19, 2008, 09:09:38 am »
As in the past, we'll be having a booth at the Festival Japan 2008 at Uwajimaya.

Quote
The Japan-America Society of Oregon, Uwajimaya, and NW Natural will be presenting the eighth annual Festival Japan on Saturday and Sunday, September 27-28, 2008 (11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) at Uwajimaya Plaza in Beaverton, Oregon. This exciting community event has been organized to bring about awareness and appreciation of the Japanese culture. It showcases a wide variety of performances, exhibitions, cultural demonstrations and Japanese children's games, everything from taiko drumming and ikebana to martial arts and cooking demonstrations. Festival Japan is focused and designed for family entertainment."

We'll be selling pre-registrations for 2009. Until online and mail-in pre-reg opens, in-person events like this one are the only way to pre-register! You get the cheapest pre-reg rate of $30.

If you'd like to help staff the booth you can email publicity@kumoricon.org or post here.

*ahem* Anyone? I really need to know if I have the time to sign up for a shift or if I can only make it as a normal attendee.

At this time we have enough staffing to fill all the times, however, we do appreciate any volunteer help but you basically have your choice of times. We won't impose a minimum time, but you can also do as much as you want. :)

I've shared a Google Docs spreadsheet with those who have responded, and you can contact me with times you would like to be there so I can note them and you can see others' times to know when you might be more needed.

Update: I've edited the top post to add a detailed event map.

I'll show up on Saturday sometime in the afternoon to help out. However, I may get called into work (though unlikely), but that'll be the only reason that I don't come.

I hope it is okay to post this, but I will more than likely be there for a bit on Sunday, so if anyone is interested in hats, let me know and I can bring some with me :)

I have a conflicting event I am vending at Saturday, so I don't have a booth at the festival this year.

I shall be there Saturday!

Can't believe they are having one this time of year-I DO remember they had one of their festivals sometime early this year?

They have always had a Festival around this time of the year. They normally have two or three events per year.

Question about pre-reg at this event. I can't remember from last year. Do I need to bring anything to pre-register? (other than the money of course) Don't we just fill out registration sheets and stuff at the booth? I think so....>.>....An answer would be most appreciated.

Also, I'll be there around 12:30, maybe 1:00 on Sunday. I'll wear what a wear last year: just a random gothic fairy outfit I have with some killer boots. lol. No specific cosplay. If you see me, you'll know. I know I'll be meeting up with AsaxChan sometime during the day. I need chakram repair! x.x Anyone who sees me, go ahead and come on over to say hi! :D

Nope, we will have the forms, so all you need is the money (cash or check) and to fill it out. You just need to remember stuff when you check-in at Kumoricon 2009: Your badge, your ID, and if you are under 18, your parent permission form (or if you are under 13, a parent).

Yeah sorry, no credit cards in-person yet, though you can pay by credit card when we open online pre-registration probably in November.
