Go Club at PSU?
« on: September 29, 2008, 07:12:15 pm »
There seems to be some interest in starting a Go Club at PSU.  I thought I'd bring this up here due to the number of new Go players Kcon has created ;)  Also, a fellow staffer asked me about trying to start a club.  The best time for me to meet is likely going to he Monday after about 4:15.  Aside from that, it would have to be during the day or very late on Tuesday.

For right now, the club will be unofficial and meet in the Smith Cafeteria or something.  I do have some Go equipment to share.  If we get momentum going, we can look into becoming official to get PSU to buy us some stones, or, most importantly, get us a place to store equipment.  Hauling stones and boards is not easy :)

So, anyone else want to join or voice an opinion as to time?

I don't know about Go, but there are several guys, mostly Random Select, that play Mahjong occasionally there.

I have no idea of how to play, but I'd be willing to learn if there are people who are willing to teach.

So, has this already begun, or is there going to be an official start date?

Nope, we haven't started yet.  I am just looking for interested peoples and trying to find out when they are free.  How do Monday nights work for you?

Depending on the time, that could work pretty well, I'm done with school at about 4:00.

Me, too :)  So, I am going to set the 20th at the start date, as this weekend is going to be rather draining/busy for me.  I figure we can just start in Smith Cafeteria for now, and move is we get more peoples.

Also, I am going to run a Go Panel at KLite in hopes of drumming up new players.
