Very true.  The pressure is far too great.  If they are somehow able to get the coffin open, the dirt will pulverise their bone structure.

However, most buried afflicted individuals are too thoroughly dead to become animate.

So yeah, cemetary is pretty safe as long as it's a conventional graveyard.  If they have one of those fancy deals where they keep the coffins stored along aisles of marble wall slots though, you're pretty screwed.

I wonder...ya know when you see those movies where an evil mastermind brings a whole cemetery to "life"? What do all the cremated bodies and whatnot do? Float around like evil dust, making people choke to death? xD

mythbusters actually went and see if its possible for a person to dig themselves out if they were buried alive.  at 6 feet, there is simply too much dirt that if you had an oxygen tank and a vest to prevent crushing, you have so much dirt fall on you that you couldn't move.

If we are talking about a Zombie outbreak that only spreads via touch, bite, etc, then there wouldn't be any zombies comming out of coffins.

seems like my zombie scenario is the same as my end of the world scenario....

my plan involves stealing abunch of stuff from Joes and then hitting up a gun store and getting abunch of stuff from there and then Hi- tailing it to the desert and or mountains...


and if zombies would after me this very moment I have a few things that I could take em down with... first off Shotgun the finest in zombie slaying-ness... not to mention some other things but I digress....
