Wait, so Indy gets to escape the Crystal Skull but Star Wars has to live with the prequels?

No fair! I abstain until I can just vote for the Original Trilogy.

I really should have split it shouldnt I? LOL. I dont want to mess up the votes at this point so you can take it as all of the movies or some of the movies. If the origonal three are better than all the other options than StarWars still wins. :)

OK, so here's what I think is fair.

Star Wars gets to exempt the prequels (and the special editions).
Star Trek gets to exempt 5 and Nemesis, but has to take the other Next Gen movies.
Harry Potter can't get marked down for differences between the different Dumbledores or Directors (or the fact that we have to wait until SUMMER TO SEE #6! GRRR!)

HP and LotR also get a pass for any differences from the original books.

I think that evens it out a bit.

I'm for Star Wars.
Star Trek as an entity wins due to the quality of the TV show and fandom, but I gotta give the movies to Star Wars.

I think the better made films were the LOTR trilogy. Oh and Star Trek, lose the first one too. Ugh! I didn't enjoy any of the Star Wars movies as much as I loved the first, er episode IV. Indiana Jones, only the first one had a "greater" purpose, in my eyes.

But...it's not as if I am not going to see any of the movies in the franchise.

I'm kinda surprised no one's said something like the Bond films, or Karate Kid (hey, if Indy can have an exception, so can Mr Miyagi).

I'll toss in Jurassic Park trilogy just for kicks.  I would have to put my vote with Star Wars though  I have always been a fan of good Sci Fi.  I liked Star Trek - Wrath of Kahn and Star Trek - Voyage Home, but most of the others were just so..so.

I give Pezzer kudos for mentioning Back to The Future, you beat me to it.  I don't know if Short Circut counts since it only had a sequel, but I liked it quite a bit as well.

there are lots of mere movie trilogys..(i wonder if i should like that word more..it means 3)

but i think this thread debate is for epicness, WITH super hype

any movie can have hype, but epicness....its not so easy its being able to walk the walk AND talk the talk

......dark knight its self was epic and batman begins was really good, it would need a 3rd movie that could compete with the previous 2 and over come the sligh bit of stigma the dark knight had
the  "they can NEVER make another movie as good as this" feeling

The "GREATEST" film is Citizen Kane, second is Casablanca. But neither are science fiction/fantasy. For that we would have to put 2001! Because that is number 3 of all movies, and number 1 in sci-fi. It's hard to believe that there was no computer animation, or that man had not even landed on the moon yet! And have it look so real/right.

LoTR as a back-to-back-to-back, 9hr directors cut trilogy. Would love it if the same gang did 'The Simarillion' as a front-end.
So many 'flawed hero' type movies since the 1990s; it's nice to follow some UN-flawed characters as a fresh change.

Lost interest in SW after the 3rd movie. Can't even remember its name off hand...

My other list o' faves:
- The Passion of Christ (2004, Mel Gibson. I was so chicken of gory scenes that it took me two years to get up the courage to see this.)
- Count of Monte Christo, (1971, Richard Chamberlain)
- El Cid (1971, Charleton Heston, Sophia Loren, Genevieve Paige)
- Sub movies: Das Boot (1981,) Hunt for Red October (1990,) Crimson Tide (1995,) NOT U-571. Don't see it; it sucks.
- The Highlander (1986. Christophe Lambert, Sean Connery. Don't see any of the sequels. They wreck it. Start & stop with #1.)
- The Russian Ark. (2002) You want COSTUMING TO DIE FOR??!?
- The Usual Suspects. (1995) Great pacing and a total surprise ending.
- Courtroom dramas: The Caine Mutiny (1954,) Breaker Morant (1980.)
- The Sound of Music: (1965) Thought it was TOTALLY sappy at the time, and only saw it the first time last summer. Made me dream of if there ever was a time when parents could raise a family of SEVEN PERFECTLY POLITE AND WELL-BEHAVED CHILDREN.
