Keyblade Help
« on: December 25, 2008, 09:28:36 am »
I'm planning on making a second Keyblade for Kumoricon 2009 when I cosplay as Xion. I had made one for a class project last year where I made it 'Keytar'. Basicly it was about half of the size of the actual keyblade(maybe a little bigger?) and I justed added on guitar strings. ^^ It was really fun, but now I have some questions on how to make a good keyblade.

I know that making a keyblade out of wood is a great way to go to make it sturdy, but I was wondering if there was a way to make it look not so...Squarish? I'm planning on doing the Kingdom Keyblade so I don't haveto worry about the hilt or anything, but what about the neck of the sword. Is there something I can do differently to make it look better?

I used cardboard. ^_^
I made a "Royal" Kingdom key last year...
It's Kinda sitting there now...
But what I did was i used a long wooden cylinder and bunches of cardboard, hot glue, a knife [to cut the cardboard] masking tape, and 3 spray paints.

Here's some pictures that I happened to take:

Made with 4 layers of cardboard XD
I didn't finish it yet, i still need masking tape around the handle so it doesn't look so weird.
But this is what I did, with my lack of wood cutting skills and tools XD

It looks really good right now. I'm not much for wood cutting, but I've got my dad and grandfather who are more than willing to help me cut out my Keyblade. The only problem we had last time was that the saw was shaking the Keyblade so bad that we thought it was going to snap in two at the neck.>< I was freaking out the whole time he was cutting it.
