DS opinions
« on: December 21, 2008, 02:24:26 pm »
so I know I'm getting a DS for Christmas. my brother went and told me. :/ but hey I still wanted one  :)

so a friend of mine said she has some games she'll let me borrow. she was actually thinking of giving me one since she doesn't really like it. is phoenix wright for DS good?

now onto the other part of this. what games do you guys suggest I get to play? I don't like cooking mama, and I've come to hate dancing games. please don't say any of the crappy American ones like HSM, and pets. those I can tell suck.

do you know of any good RPG type ones, zelda, or something along those lines. I love violent games, but I love if they have a story.

also does anyone know if they have any fire emblem games for DS?

~Thanks so much.

The World Ends With You.

And Phoenix Wright is great...but a lot of reading and little action, so if that's not your kinda game, then I won't recommend it.

hmm I'll write that one down. thanks

really? well I'll try it out for now. my likes can vary depending on how the game goes on so we'll see. but I'll probably just play it until I have actual games to play since it's free. :3

Lunar Knights is good. I like FFXII for it, and pokemon of course :P

Also they are making a Fire Emblem game for it (the one with Marth for all you Smash fans), and one of the new Kingdom Hearts will be on the DS.

The Rune Factory harvest moon games also let you fight and keep monsters ;3 So it's kind of fun. You can manage without planting that many crops once you can mine in dungeons~

Let's see...

I second TWEWY- it's an rpg with a pretty cool storyline and really fun battles x3
A lot of people like Disgaea, but it's a lot strategy so I got bored |D
I hear Bleach: Dark Souls is good?
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl is a must-play D8 Unless you dun like pokemon.... Also Pokemon Explorers of Time/Darkness is cute and has a pretty neat plot 80 It made me cry ;w;
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is pretty good, but really short, so I'd only borrow it :x The story isn't so good but it's fun to run around killing things |D
Super Mario 64 is funnnn 83 Even if you have the N64 version~
Oh and I can't forget Animal Crossing, a classic. If you didn't like the first one though, you might not like this either :x

I hear the Phoenix Wright games are good, and they're really popular due to memes O3o I haven't played them yet, though. And Chrono Trigger (Ithink?) gets good ratings, some people say it's better than TWEWY, but I haven't played it yet either.

Annnd yeah. Some multiplayers that're fun are mainly the Mario Party Games, Mario Kart DS, and Zelda Phantom Hourglass xD Though I haven't played many multiplayers... For those only one person needs to have the game though.

Don't forget the old classics Meteos, Tetris DS, Planet Puzzle League (AKA Tetris Attack, but differently themed and easier), and Polarium. I kinda got behind on DS games and haven't played newer games, but Final Fantasy 4 is probably good.

I love Phoenix Wright. There's no action and there is a lot of text, but it's still fun. It's a funny game.  :D

I don't recommend Puzzle Quest. It's just a bunch of the same thing over and over again. I thought it was fun for a while but the story was slow. Or maybe I was just playing it wrong. I lost that game a while ago. >_>

Those are the only DS games I have really played. I reaaaalllyy want Tetris DS and Rune Factory though. :x

Oh, and people say that those Drawn to Life games are fun, but they're not o__o It's fun at first, but then it just gets boring. You do pretty much the same thing over and over again. oXo

Uhhh.... Oh, also, if you can hook up WiFi, there are web browsers for the DS (like Opera I think?) that plug in to your GBA slot, but I'm not sure how easy it is to get ahold of them...

I would reccomend Trace Memory! It came out a while ago alongisde the first model of the DS so I'm not entirely sure how common it is. It's a really eerie point and click type of mystery game, and I really love it.

I've yet to beat it though... I need to play it some more :D

Edit~ Oh and Bleach: Dark Souls is very good, especially if you're a fan of the series. There's a wide range of fighting styles, plenty of characters to choose from, and the battle system is a bit like Smash Bros., only it's 2D and you can fight on two planes.

Oh yeah, Trace Memory is pretty good o-o Forgot about that.

It's really short though .-. I beat it in a day or two. Not much replay value either. Unless you haven't played it in a year.

Another Pokemon one for my list is Pokemon Ranger  Not much of a plot, but if you like trying to catch 'em all... :P

A day? Crapola! I still haven't beaten it, and I haven't played it in a while. I'm lost somewhere in the foyer :D

I liked Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue a lot, I can't remember what Poke'mon I was though.

I haven't played my DS in a while x-x

Another fun game if you like puzzles is Professor Layton and the Curious Village.  It's a puzzle game, but it also has a really good plot and soundtrack.  And animated cutscenes with voiceovers!

I love the Phoenix Wright games!  They're very fun. :3

Yeah, Trace Memory has no replay value. However, I recommend Hotel Dusk (good luck finding it though). I also recommend Chrono Trigger, it's an excellent rpg.

Well, there's only one really bloody/creepy game for the DS: "Dementium: The Ward". It's probably the BEST M rated game for the DS. I highly recommend playing it in a dark room with headphones on. Other than that you have the original Resident Evil, and this crappy on-rails shooter called "Touch the Dead".

It really is the only good creepy game, in my opinion, on the ds. The controls are the same as Metroid Prime Hunters, so it's easy enough to play. Those are the only real creepy games on the ds. Other than that, you have the Castlevania series.

R4 doesn't update its firmware much anymore, so if you do get a flashcard, I'd suggest looking for a different one *-*;

well i would recomend ff3 and ff4. ff12 was good but it seemed to much like lost magic. Luminous Arc is really good it is simalar to final fantsy tactics but with far better art work and the story is great. the new fire emblem is called Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and will be on american shores around summer of 2009. if you like bloody gore games go with Castlevania. but there are 3 titles for the ds. happy hunting

Just buy an r4 and download the games you want...

Just don't complain when your favorite game studios and publishers go out of business, or software developers decide to enter different industries than gaming, because making games (or certain types of games) is no longer profitable.
