Where can I get cheap cosplay stuff?
« on: March 10, 2009, 06:27:42 pm »
I'm looking for cheap cosplay stuff(my parents are cheap and I'm kinda broke) but everything's like... $70 and that's a lot(Cheaper than a fursuit but still). I know somebody who knows somebody who makes them, but I don't know how to get a hold of them.
Help?
Need ears or a tail??? I make them! PM me for info.

Well what are you looking for? I know many people have created costumes from Goodwill stuff. I just acquired some of my pieces from the Goodwill. There's also a halloween store in Beaverton that sells cheap wigs. I just talked to the manager/owner or something and  she said that they are starting to sell more "anime" style wigs...thanks to the cosplayers.

Yeah Goodwill is what my mom said, so I'm probably going to be checking there for stuff. My mom checked today for a dress, and they didn't have one, but I'll have my sister check the Red Light, and maybe some Goodwill's around her.
Thanks ^^

Well, a really cheap way would be to buy a pink prom/regular dress from goodwill... or goodwill, as is store... and alter it. You could even easily use a pink T-shirt and a pink skirt, if your creative enough. Also some kind of netting to make a petticoat; that skirt WILL NOT stay up like that without one on. The rest can be make out of scraps from altering. That's a cheap cosplay to make; hell, I could probably make it for you for fifty or something. XD Well, not including the wig. As for that, cheapest option is to buy a plain wig. Preferably straight, and style it. Lotsa hairspray and curlers. Not hot ones, because if left in and hairsprayed enough, even cold, they will turn into curls. It'll just take a while. ^^ hot can ruin wigs easily.

Also, curlers only for the very, very bottom. If done right, it gives the exact right inward sweep you need for a wig like that, and... XD *Is very nit-picky and technical*
I an SO glad I have the same shade and length of Yuna's hair... do NOT want to deal with a wig for her. >.<
... XD

Oh cool, good idea :)
You could make it for fifty? Sweet, I'll have to keep that in mind when my mom will lend me money. ^^

:D For other ideas you can go to Cosplay.com and type in Tokyo Mew Mew in the search engine. Most of the cosplayers on there explain how they make their cos, so maybe you could get some ideas/tips on how to make et.

If you need to buy patterns, do it this week. JoAnn's fabrics is running a sale where their Simplicity patterns are $2 each. I bought two corset patterns and a kimono pattern for $6 (a $44 saving!!)
