Wolverine: X-men Origins
« on: May 03, 2009, 11:31:37 pm »
I just viewed Wolverine movie Friday night and am happy to say that I actually enjoyed it! The entirety of the plot was a bit crammed but good nonetheless. It was better than I thought it would be. Anyone seen it and want to comment + try not to spoil for others?

 :)

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I also saw it Thursday night and thought it was awesome. I loved the way they established Logan's history, also while establishing the relationship between he and Sabretooth. I thought the acting, production....all the logistics and behind-the-scene aspects of the movie...I thought it was all awesome. Visually pleasing, mentally and emotionally stimulating, a great film!

My only wish is that the other, non-primary, mutants had more screen time. I really just wanted to see more of them...Gambit, Blob, Wade...I'm hoping for an extended version. ^_^

Totally agree! Oh man, Blob was hilarious! More screen time for sub-characters would have been nice. I think the whole "Origins" has much potential. Wolverine may be the first so far, but there are so many stories out there for the X-men (and women) to be told. :) Especially, for a fan like moi!

I totally agree with you about how Origins could become the sub-series within the X-Men films. I would love, love, love to see X-Men Origins: Storm! I love Storm, heh. Or Nightcrawler! That last one is probably pretty unlikely, but it would put a smile on my face, haha.

But yes, hopefully this grows into many other movies. ^_^

Oh, and I totally forgot: Bolt! I loved Bolt and really would have liked to see him in the movie for more time than he was there. Dominic Monaghan is a great actor and yeah, would have liked to see more of him.

i loooooved the movie too ^.^ i agree that i'd like to see more of the other mutants, but i'll just have to wait for any other origins movies they may make. i heard from my friend at work that they are going to do one for gambit and one for dead pool, and perhaps a magneto movie, though i heard that one was on hold for the moment.

anyway, the movie was amazing in every way ^.^ any favorite scenes anybody?

I was kinda torn between "go and just be entertained" and "I hope they actually read the books" There is a whole comic called Wolverine Origins and it's pretty amazing.
This movie was pretty good, but I can't quite get over the inner fanboy that has"WTF" moments when they change a storyline drastically

I luv Wade.

Deadpool is one of my favorite Marvel characters and even if they misused the name, Wade Wilson a la Ryan Reynolds was spot on. The guy really never shuts up.

They really did a good job with the relationships between Wolverine and Gambit, Wolverine and Sabertooth, and even Wolverine and Wade. I'm happy with the new canon even if my faves get brushed aside.

We had some chicas in the theatre whistling @ Wolverine's upper body nudeness, LOL. Silly youngsters!  ::)

lol, he was a hard one to miss for me. He played his character really well, I thought. Another one I would have liked to see more of, though.

I think I missed him because of the annoyingly loud and tall person sitting in front of me. I am so good at tuning people out 'cause I was enjoying my movie!!! But it just didn't 'click' when I saw him. I have brain lag...all the time... >_<

SPINE!!!

"Walk until you bleed, then walk some more..." oh, so painful!
So many people in the theatre missed the 1-minute ending after the credits. Shame, shame, shame!

Yeah, a lot of people walked out right as the credits began, missing the mid-credit ending and the post-credit ending, haha. It pays to stay!

The wife and I just watched it and we both really liked it. My only complaint was that Gambit need a little more of a southern accent.

Yeah, I was mentioning to Kahlan after seeing the movie how in the comics and cartoon, his accent is much more prominent, but he is older then, so....whatever, haha. He slipped into it in the movie here and there, making it thicker at times, but it's okay with me. Not enough to bother me, heh.

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was ok. I'm not wholly familiar with the X-Men comic, but Gambit is one of those X-men that everyone's heard of and I just thought he'd be more... badass. He didn't really look or act that... badass. Or maybe suave is a better word. He's suppose to be like a gambler and a cardshark (I think) and he didn't really seem like either. And I heard he's also something like a ladies' man in the comic and I personally didn't find myself very attracted to him. I don't know- I guess I didn't find him charming enough. Maybe because he was only in the movie for like 10 minutes (and I was expecting him to be in it longer because all my X-Men friends were really excited that he was going to be in the movie, but he wasn't in there very long!). And maybe a more Creole accent would've helped his charm (cause' then he'd be a real Southern' gentleman ^_~). Bah- I'm being nit-picky.

I did like how it showed Sabertooth and Wolverine fighting in the Civil War, WWI, etc. And I thought it was cool that it also kinda set-up the first X-Men movie with a special cameo appearance ^_^.

As a comic book nerd, no I did not like it.
As a X-men fan and just love X-men in general: also did not like.
Just....to rushed for me. And way too much death. Two deaths made me cry.
I dont know, I just didnt find making a movie entirely for wolverine was a good Idea, I love the X-MEN not JUST wolverine but I suppose he is the most popular.
Though they should be a making a big deal out of all of them. But now questions are raised to how that might tie into the other movies. By means of who wolverine ran into before his memory got knocked out (wouldnt they remember him later on?).
But i cant say them without making spoilers for those who have not seen it so i wont say.

Hmmm... I see. Thank you for sharing your opinion and being considerate to not spoil it for others! I know it's hard to comment without spoiling it for people who haven't seen it. I do agree it was rushed, but can you imagine how much it COULD have sucked? I don't know how to give an example, but I guess "for example" the Chun Li movie (apparently, street fighter is in the title)...THAT was just ... AH... not very good. *sigh.

Happy FRIDAY everyone!

I did like it, but alas it had the same problem as the other xmen movies.  Too many characters not enough character development.  The first half of the movie was really good though, I just wish they could have gone a little different towards the end.
Yaoi crossplay... is actually Yuri.
