PICS, PLEASE.

fleur, there's actually a few AP and Baby dresses I love, but none of them are very OTT.

Also, I just made a Taobao order.  :D It's only for a headband (that kidsyoyo violin one aaaah I hope DOL keeps the coats up for a few more months~), but it's a start!

I'll get some in a few minutes. They won't be very good though. And because they won't be very good is because I need to get a petticoat from my friend tomorrow.

Also I want to show you guys my binding shirt:

(click all for bigger)

And Saturday(tomorrow) I'm planning on wearing one of the dresses to a parade, which one should I wear. It's a cherry festival parade.
I'm also sorry about the purple long sleeve, I couldn't find my blouse.

well you were part of the influence of my slow conversion to the sweet lolita style (i'm a aristocrat/kuro/wa lover)

i was watching hairspray (original) yesterday and the little black girl's dress, and the dresses that the girls wore in the "Corny Collins Dance Show" reminded me of country lolita, and i'm like <//< "i want that dress... i want to dress like that.. DAMN IT I DON'T CARE ANYMORE! I'M WEARING PINK AND FRILLS AND GIRLY CRAP!" XD

and then i watched grease and the dresses at the prom or whatever dance got to me too, i was like "man those dresses twirl...dang it... i like dresses... DAMN IT ALL I'M WEARING CUTE GIRLY DRESSES I DON'T CARE IF I HAVE TO MAKE THEM!" XD so it was the influence of the "old fashion" girl thing that popped into my mind, and i love lolita style, so i will now try the sweet, and shiro style for sure, and maybe country

I was kinda stunned by how many people showed for the Lolita Cosplay Contest at Sakuracon. Not that there's any reason it shouldn't have been popular, just that I didn't realize it had gotten to be as big an event as Cosplay Contest, Cosplay Chess, and the various dances.

(Btw, my condolences to all the people I had to keep telling "No, the end of the line is still farther back that way." That line just kept going... and going... and going...)

Ah, thank you very much for the correction - you're absolutely right. I was getting more than a little punchy from lack of sleep by the end of con, and it all started blurring together.  :-[

(But that was still one ridiculously big crowd. Congrats to you guys on the seemingly-explosive popularity. (^_^))

Hahaha it's all good. And yeah, I'm always amazed with how many people actually want to go! Lolitas don't always have the best relationships with cosplayers (which, as another model and I talked about, is dumb since there's a huge common interest there) so it's good to see both cosplayers and lolitas watching the show :3c

Btw here's the designer outfit I wore:

I get a discount for modeling from her, so I'm seriously tempted to buy this set...

Fleur, that's really cute. I like how the cut is a more "adult" style, so it can work for older people as well.

Wish I could have gone to Sac at all TT.TT

But I'm excited to see what all happens in the Lolita Fashion show at WonderNW!

I'm not sure where you got this info, but there was a lolita fashion show and a cosplay contest. Lolita is not cosplay.

Probably my fault for giving it that misnomer earlier in the thread... :-[

What you're saying is obviously true if you think about the definitions involved, but I'm so accustomed to the anime world that by default I'd think of any outfit that's not mainstream, involves a lot of attention to detail, is handcrafted rather than mass-produced, etc as being "cosplay" if worn at a con or similar gatherings.

Moitie is expensive, but I really doubt it was $2k. Iron Gate's OP only goes for $1k and that's secondhand, because the price went up with time.

Uhm, personally, I would've used different lace and made the sleeves more blouse-looking instead of flaring at the ends, and the middle panel and the corset don't really match. Striped stockings aren't usually used in lolita, either. ^^;; You did a great job with the shape, though, I like the poof on the dress!

I see striped stockings all the time. >_> It just depends on how bold the colors are and what you're matching them with. With the above dress I would have gone with more plain stockings, like plain black, because stripes with the pattern on the dress looks a bit busy. I don't really mind the mismatching of the corset and the middle panel. :P I think it's because the middle panel looks good against the blonde hair and the corset looks good with the black. I'm with Miria about the lace though. >_< Although I'm sure it's hard to find a good lace to go with the dress in Oregon without having to dye it yourself. For that dress I would have picked a rose motif venise or net lace that was black.

Seconding all three of these statements ^

I'm assuming you were lied to or something; the only Moitie dress (as MiriaRose already pointed out) that is even close to that expensive is Iron Gate and your dress is definitely not Iron Gate. Not to mention Moitie dresses are super tiny and don't have much fabric to work with, so I'm not even sure how you'd make a second dress out of it.

Cosplay lolita doesn't exist within lolita fashion; it's like cosplaying Stocking and calling yourself a lolita. The character wears "lolita clothing" but it doesn't fit the actual guidelines of lolita (dem short skirts). It's a costume.

I want stuff from Kidsyoyo @_@

For that dress I would have picked a rose motif venise or net lace that was black.
You can buy black venise lace online from cheeptrims.com or Martha Not Mary on Etsy.

Striped stockings are advised against because they tend to show up a lot in "ita" outfits. They go great with punk lolita, though~

Fleur, I only have the violin headband in bordeaux, but it is beautiful and I want the rest of the set liek nao. ):

The F+F dress doesn't look bad, but F+F's quality varies a lot. I'd stay away from any custom orders.

As for Milanoo. . The thread says not to buy from them for a VERY good reason. They're scammers and liars and create fake blogs to advertise their products, and they used to harass people on egl who left bad reviews on their products. Seriously, just Google "Milanoo review." You'll see how terrible their dresses are.

I own a pair of "decent" bloomers from Milanoo. The lace is horrid, as is the sewing. I wouldn't buy from them again.

As for the dresses themselves. . It's often advised for newer lolitas to stay away from the black/white combination, or any contrasting colour combination, and for good reason. A lot of people new to the fashion don't have the experience to know bad lace from good lace. Not saying anything bad about you, it's just common.

Contrasting colours make bad lace stand out even more, and Milanoo is notorious for its bad lace. It'll just look bad.

tl;dr Milanoo makes horrid products don't buy from them

If you want inexpensive lolita items, then go to Bodyline or Taobao.

Sorry if this seems too angry or rude; it just really isn't hard to Google reviews of companies.

Oh, I know where I get MY venise lace. I have a crap ton from cheeptrims. Not to mention I said "in Oregon," as in "in a store in Oregon." Basically everyone knows you can find almost anything online nowadays. :P

I have two pairs of striped tights/socks that I wear with outfits: blackxwhite to mainly go with Pirate Loli coords, and whitexred that I've worn with my Christmas coord and also with a pinkxred coord. Yes, bxw aren't advised normally, but they can go with a variety of outfits, and I was meaning striped stockings/socks in general, which come in basically every color combo imaginable.
Line up:
-Kageyama (Haikyuu)
-Cordelia (Fire Emblem Awakening)
-Marauder Ashe (League of Legends)
-??? Who knows what else. Probably a cosplay I can wear my glasses with.
