A friend and me are going to be wearing lolita for the first day of kumoricon  (it's are first time wearing lolita) I guess i just want some advice on what to do and what not to do.  I'm going to be wearing a light blue and white dress i bought off an online store called milanoo.  Then i bought shoes and a head band at bodyline, but when i got the shoe's and head band they weren't the same color as the dress, there more of a light greenish blue and i was just wondering if they would still look ok together?  If you would like pics of the dress and shoes i can put them up later.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

A Chinese site that sells a bunch of cheap clothing. They have thousands of different stuff. I have a friend that ordered from there and she got her costume it wasnt bad. O_O I mean It was really cheap and I was expecting something worse. The shipping took forever tho.

lol Yeah they are cheap, but i think it turned out quite well and i was shocked that it only took less then  two weeks to make and two days to ship. Also at the time they were having free shipping I just couldn't refuse heh.

I would be very wary of them because they are notorious for stealing brand/offbrand photos for their site, so what you see in the picture is NOT exactly what you're going to get.

@fuuwindgoddess: I would love to see pictures of what you're working with before I try to give any advice. Small things you can do to make it look Lolita better in general: PETTICOAT (the poofier the better, but not sticking out under the dress), NICE socks/otk socks, NICE lace (not raschel lace). Stay away from satin and scratchy lace, and make sure the dress isn't too long. Softer is always better <3

That actually doesn't look that bad! The stretching around your bust is a little strange with the corset lacing though. I would also suggest more accessories (bracelets, etc) and possibly a long, wavy wig, but not neccessary.

Thanks. I well look into some bracelets and some rings, but as for the wig hmmm not sure, i do have a long curly auburn wig that might go ok with it, but i don't have the money to buy a new wig.  I'm pretty much broke, have to save what money i have for the hotel room lol.

Lol I just think that bangs look better with lolita (any kind of bangs) and same with longer hair. It just fits the aesthetic of Lolita. Also, makeup makes a big difference. With that dress I would suggest something like this (http://i.ytimg.com/vi/1tCoccuz96s/hqdefault.jpg) but with blue instead of pink. :3

I would also invest in a white eyeliner pencil to do on the bottom lash line (it makes your eyes look bigger), and liquid liner for the top line (black or brown).

so i'm doing a steampunk lolita version of aqua (from kh: bbs) for kcon '11 and i was wondering if this design would be something that represents that? i mean i'm not a genious obviously in lolita, but i do know a bit of victorian attire. what do you think of this?

Well I think you have the lolita thing down pretty well, but I don't really see the steampunk. The idea for steampunk is that the character is living in the past with technology like today (or something like that, I'm so bad at describing steampunk) and it looks like straight lolita.

and i do know what steampunk is, but i didn't want to dress my character too much into the technology >.< cuz the original design that i had for her was going to have her wearing steampunk goggles, but i didn't want to wear those on my face while i was dancing (this is for the dance) so that's why i had to dress her down a bit. the steampunk attire comes in with my purse XD which i haven't included in my pic :3
it has a more definite steampunk feel to it. i'm deciding between a clock, or time bomb or sticking with my original idea, a steampunk old fashion gun +w+ lol

You might want to ask a different sort of community about steampunk... I know it's a bit more complex than some people make it out to be (they say sticking gears randomly to stuff is their version of Itas)

I think the shoes, tights, and accessories help add to the steampunk theme... Maybe brown or black suede/leather gloves too? Haha, I have no idea |: I really like the look of it though!
Also, remember, when you're picking out fabric, to stick to muted tones. What shows up on my screen looks good, but it's easy to mess up the colors when you get the actual fabric.

Here's what I wore today~ As I was walking to the busstop, some guy driving by quickly shouted "YOULOOKLIKEAFREAK" at me xD I'd probably be slightly offended if he hadn't yelled in such an angry voice, and I wonder how fast he made the decision to say it since he was driving by at around 45mph, and I just turned onto that road *u*; It was just so weird, I just lol'd.

I also met a freshman at my school who knew about Lolita, but I was rushing somewhere at the time so we couldn't really talk. ;u; As soon as she saw me she asked "Angelic Pretty?" and I was pretty surprised. She even apparently had some BPN stuff.
Everything's from Bodyline, except the accessories (handmade, gifts, saturday market, etc) and the socks (goodwill 8D)


I wore this yesterday, but as I said it was really experimental and weird. I kind of looked like a teacher-slash-pirate with a deer obsession. Or something.

oh thanks! and trust me! i know stuff about colors and clothes! XD lol i hate not matching and not representing the very thing that i'm cosplaying or wearing! it's kinda the thing i try to avoid (unless something happens like i ran outta time or money lol or lost it ;~;)

yes this is the actual dress ~here~ for the drawing that i based it on :3 so everything that i got for my drawing is based on real clothing and i just sorta puzzle-pieced the thing together lol XD i changed my gloves to these (cuz i didn't like the ones i put on the original design)~these here~ (which i already wore and i LOVEEE them! >w< )

and if i do love wearing this steampunk lolita (cuz i do love the lolita fashion, it reminds me of a much simpler time lol) i might make it a new fashion of mine 8D (most likely punk, sailor, ero, or aristocrat lolita) those styles are the ones i loooove the most <3~

ps i have bought stuff from cosplay-costume.com before and i love them! they make their things with QUALITY! and for just the right amount of money too!
