I became a Yojimbo in 2004
Came back in 2005, 2006, and 2007 because I loved doing it
In 2008 I ran the Yojimbo
And now in 2009 I am assistant manager
And the reason... is because of people like you. We arent thanked very often but the few times we are is like having all the gold in the world.
Our duties include: Manning doors (badge check and equipment guarding), roaming halls (to keep them clear for fire code), controlling lines, peace bonding props, responding to numerous situations (such as missing persons, fights, wardrobe issues, medical, etc), bodyguard if the need arises, chaperons, set up, tear down, and being there for any and all needs that arise. And if we cant handle a situation, we can get someone who can.
I will admit the job can be stressful. We work long hours, we miss events we might want to go to, we might not get a chance to eat for long periods of time, etc... but most of these issues are extreme cases in which we often FORGET to eat and or FORGET to leave our shift because were having too good a time as is.
But its all worth it just to hear someone say thank you, even once.
so in response to your post, thank you.
