Stage dimensions?
« on: July 26, 2009, 06:55:19 pm »
Can anyone tell me how big the stage will be for performing skits?
Or has that not been figured out yet?

Don't know the answer yet - wish I did since all cosplayers want to know....
I'll be asking the facilities guy at the next meeting for the information.

David has the numbers, I never got an email from him though. I'll look into this.

We discuss it in one of my Hotel Tour videos on youtube. They have a lot of stage with two different heights so I think we're going to have a great main events room this year.

From what I know it's about 36' wide by 16' deep and 2' high.  At Certain times there will be a 6' wide by 12' or 18' long catwalk hopefully only 1' off the ground.  I believe all staging is made of 8' by 6' pieces.  Hope this helps.

so if the larger stage is made by 8x6 pieces then the larger stage will have 12 pieces in total
It does help ^_^
Hopefully its accurate, thanks!

36'x16' is something I can easily maneuver around on. This is very good for me to know ahead of time! Thanks!

Also, how are we getting up on stage? A set of stairs?

Um, I'm the cartographer for the convention.
It's my jobs to make maps.

I have time on my hands because very few people actually request different maps from me.

Besides, I already had a bunch of drafts of Main Events made already, it was a cinch to modify the existing ones to show his stage design.

Yes, Tom, your maps were very helpful. They are being used in the program book and pocket guides.

One question? Was the Lobby level, which is labeled LL, actually supposed to be L? I hope so, cause I changed it...

No prob.
I know there was a reason I put LL for "Lobby Level" instead of just L.
*checks his notes*
Ah ha! That is how they are labeled in the elevators.  ;D
LL is actually supposed to be "Lower Lobby" or "Lower Level". It's actually between B and *L. So the main Lobby was supposed to just be L, or maybe *L. Thanks for fixing it.

Yep. Nobody was awake to ask (I was finishing the very latest copy of the pocket guide overnight last night that we could have printed), so I checked one of the photos of the elevator panel to make sure of my memory that LL was below the lobby. Glad that photo was useful (aside from just being cool). ^_^

I checked the same way. I had a couple shots of it in my videos.
When I double checked on the map I noticed a tiny LL on the escalator landing. Looks I knew what I was doing at some point in the creation process.
