Hi guys!

I'm Kristy Kay and I'm going to be hosting "Let's Voice Act! A Beginner's Guide." during KumoriCon.  I have been an amateur voice actress for ten years and a professional for about one year. This workshop is going to be a LOT of fun.  I'm bringing my recording equipment down and we're going to work on some voice acting skills through games and exercises.  If you've never voice acted before but have always wanted to, please feel free to come in!

During the second half of the panel, I will be holding open auditions for the TEC:The Echo Chronicles flash series!  This series, based on my webcomic, is a great way to get your voice heard.  I am wanting to cast people that are dedicated to learning voice acting, as I am looking for people that are willing to be coached.  We have many roles open and I have use for ANY voice type.  So, tell your friends and come down and give it a whirl. :)

I will be posting a website later this week that will have character information and lines available so that you can be more familiar with the characters before the audition.  I will also have this information available at the convention.

I hope to see a lot of you at this panel!  I know it's going to be a lot of fun!

Edit:  Here is the audition information: http://teccomic.com/auditions/

The panel will be held on Monday at 9 AM.  Auditions begin promptly at 10 AM. :)

This interest me, quite a bit. If I don't get lost, I'll drag both of my friends with me!
They'll probably just sit and watch, but I'd love to at least give voice acting a try, since I think it'd be fun. ^^

:) One of the things i'm going to talk about is that there is no "perfect" voice for voice acting.  Everyone has a role and a niche. Any voice can be trained and cultivated into something awesome.  All it takes is practice and some guidance.  So, if anyone is feeling shy or like they aren't the right "type," please come and see the panel.

I have a WEIRD sounding voice (in my opinion) but I can work it to my advantage.  And that's exactly what we'll be working on. :)

Not sure on the panel's day yet, but I'll keep everyone posted.  I should also have audition information for the animations up by the end of the weekend.

Hope to see you all there!

I will definately be on the lookout for this one!  We had something like this at KCon '06 that went well, so I'd expect to see this one go well, too.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba

Looks cool.~ I've been toying around with VAing on another website for the last few months so this panel sounds super-cool!~ Hopefully the time for it is announced soon because it's hard to figure out what I can and can't go to without knowing.

Hope to see you all there. :) As soon as the official schedule is released, I'll let everyone know when the panel will be.

Also, sorry I haven't gotten the audition information up yet.  :( I was having wrist pains for a week up to my vacation, so I am very much behind.  The page will be posted by Sunday.

We were all in that position once. :) And voice acting is a journey, always learning, always growing.  Everyone has to start somewhere.  Feel free to come by! :D

Hmm.  I wonder if Toshifumi Yoshida is going to be doing his VA panel again as well.  I know that he did Inuyasha voice overs the last 2 or 3 times he was here.  I was Sesshoumaru for one of them.   ;D  It would really be fun if the actual VA's dropped in as well.  I know that Kirk Thornton was "assisting" Toshi during the time I was there.  Also had Sean Schemmel (Goku) if I remember correctly.  That was the place to be that year!

That sounds fun. :) This panel will be a bit different, as we won't be doing any dubbing.  It's going to focus strictly on the voice acting aspect, so it'll just be a microphone and script.  After all, adding lipflap to the mix is sort of troublesome when you're first getting this art down.  So, this workshop is all voice acting technique and coaching.  Hopefully it will be a different (but positive) experience.

Is there anything we need to bring, aside from our voices? Would it be helpful for us to bring our own microphones?

I think my hubby just died from excitement!  :o

He took a class that was supposed to be like this, they were going to record stuff for personal demo CDs, but the teacher didn't do it because too many people showed up.

I'm even looking forward to atleast the first part... auditions always make me nervous!

Nothin' but your voices.  I'm going to be bringing my microphone (you'll get to see the most awesomely ghetto home studio set up EVER.  Miss Kristy doesn't pay retail prices for NUFFIN'! *LOL*  But it works great!) and boom stand, so I'll be recording everything.  Since we've only got an hour for coaching, I'll be bringing people up in groups and mostly do group exercises.  If there is a low level of participation, I'll gladly do one-on-ones.

Oh, SiderAnne, if you're in the Portland area, I can recommend a really good coach for your husband who does group classes, one on one coaching, and demos. :) She's awesome!  She does both character coaching and commercial.

Depending on whether or not I get into Cosplay Chess that'll make the difference as to how long I can stay at this panel. I hope I can make it though.~

If you're on any sort of time constraint, just let me know at the start of the auditions and I'll give you priority read time.  If you cannot make it to the workshop at all, just let me know (you can even pop in to the para para panels, which I'm also hosting to tell me) and I can arrange an outside time to audition.  I just need to know a bit in advance so I'll bring my recording equipment with me.

Same for me, except for the part about being late for the premeet. I was just so exhausted after the first two days of the con that I couldn't get myself here in time for this. I'm sure it was great though.~
