Good site to go threw for domain?
« on: August 09, 2009, 07:40:48 pm »
Hey all. I manage the website for our ghost hunting team.. and need some help.
For the last year and a half, we have been going through freewebs, which is now webs.com. It's been extremely horrible. And now they are screwing us over. They keep saying we have no e-mail through them when we infact do, and are still using them. We need to edit and delete some of those e-mails so they can no longer be used by old team members, but cannot because they say we 'have no e-mail through them'. And it's not just that, but a lot of other things too.

So.. I'm looking for a different website to transfer my domain to (www.oregonghosthunters.com).

Can anyone recommend something? I would prefer it to be a simple and easy to navigate website. Also, I would LOVE it, if it supports javascript and or css.  Webs.com only supports straight html. And well.. building a website through straight html is a pain. lol. I would love to be able to use javascript.. or.. anything besides html. haha

Thank you to anyone who replies!! 8D

I have my domain hosted through cloud9nine.net webhosting.  Their rates are among the lowest you'll find, and their cloud panel makes it very easy to manage files, directories, emails, bandwidth, and other functions of the site.

You asked about domains, but then described web hosting. Those are two different things, although sometimes may be sold in a bundle.

Anyway, I recommend Global Knowledge Group (www.gkg.net) for domain registration, based primarily on my long-time good personal experience with them. (If they do web hosting, I have no idea about that.)

I recommend easyDNS (www.easydns.com) for DNS hosting in general, but many web hosts will require you to use them for DNS hosting and not let you use a separate hosting service.

Sorry, I don't have a recommended web host, though there are many different target markets for that because requirements differ greatly, so it's a much more complex question.

If you Google for help on this, beware of cooked reviews and sham review sites which are solely set up to recommend a certain specific host, in order to collect referral bonuses. It's an ugly scene.

There are no referral links in either of these URLs, nor am I otherwise benefiting indirectly from recommending or referring either of these services. (If either or both has a referral program, I am not participating in it currently.)
