How do you prepare for the con?
« on: August 30, 2009, 10:39:31 am »
cosplay wise that is.

It's the week before the con, what to do you do?

For me I:
-Finish costumes
-Pack
-Make food
-sew in extra hidden pockets (they come in handy)
-Shave my legs (dont want no hairy legs in pictures)
-semi diet to make sure I dont have a pouch for any revealing cosplay
-stock up on my make up supply's
-wipe my memory cards
-charge my cameras
-and gently pack my cosplays

xD I have a ritual now, pack, bake/cook, deit, shave, charge, wipe cards, and then pick up whoever is staying with me on thursday night.

what about you all?
returning with a vengeance to K con~

Well I'm all packed so...

On Thursday night I'll pack my hygeine/normal clothes bag and bring it to school with my on Friday.

Friday I go to school and have good times.

Then after school I get my crap out of my locker, stash my school stuff in it and then we begin the three hour drive to Portland.

AND THEN KUMORICON~~~

Well, this is my first convention, so I'm just trying to do everything right. I researched everything three times over, so I should be good knowledge wise.
So far I:
Quick diet, shave, run, bike, anything to prepare
Finish any un-finished cosplays
Pack them in Ziplock bags with their accessories to flatten and seal them, I can iron when I get to the destination
Charge all needed recording devices and replace batteries on some
Stock up on healthy snack food and fresh food
Pack manga for swap meet
Organize money, budgeting, and schedule
Attend school
Rush out on Friday for the six to eight hour drive to Portland

1) Finish Cosplays that are not done.
2) Start the "maybe" cosplays
3) Pack Cosplays
4) Pack 'normal' clothes
5) Shave
6) Pack needed stuff... (Cash, RR stuff, et cetera)
7) Toss Luggage in trunk
8) Go to school Friday
9) Run out of school Friday [Skipping out on Student Council duties... >.>] and hop in for a 3-4 hour ride to Oregon and Portland!

10) (?) Finish 'maybe' cosplays in hotel (?) {Probably finish styling a needed wig there, too...}

XP My advisor is going to be so mad when I tell him I can't work our Kick Off Friday... [/postponing that...]

well, this year I will be packing normal clothes on thrusday, and keeping my main cosplay out so it doesn't get all wrinkled. I then group my stuff together for when I will be picked up, and then continue to do everything normally after I have made sure everything was packed.

You're ill? Laaame.. a summer cold or flu or something? If it's anything like that, I can actually highly recommend some stuff called 'Airborne'.. it's basically these round tablet things.. and you drop them in a glass of warm water and drink.. it's quite soothing, but actually helps you get better amazingly quick.. last time I had a cold, I drank 1-2 of those a day, and seriously got better within a week. Anyway, if you search "Airborne" at like riteaid.com or something, they should have it. (It's normally like $5 for a 10ct tube, but I think right now it's on sale for like $2.99 with a $2 mail in rebate.)

Anyway, and for on topic and such.. I don't really have a routine. Last year it was basically.. wake up, get dressed, catch a bus to the con, done.

This year will be slightly different seeing as I'm actually getting a room, and whatnot. But chances are it'll basically be.. finish my costume(I still need to finish working on my hair, if I wanna get it absolutely white, plus getting gloves), then pack it all, figure out what my plans are on friday, since I have to meet up with my friend who's staying with me, but lives on the other side of town.. check my bank and make sure i have adequate funding and such.. and then figure out if I'm getting a ride to the con, or if I'm catching a bus or max to downtown.

1. Pack all my costumes using a list, making sure I have everything for each one
2. Make sure everything electronic is charged (camera batteries, radios, zune, speakers, laptop) and packed with chargers
3. Usually get a haircut the week before con
4. The day I leave for the con I'll pack my toiletries, phone (and charger), and street clothes.

Unless I have a costume to finish the last week is fairly uneventful for me

Same here. It's almost a shame that I've got everything ready so early~

That would be Northern California (Humboldt County specifically). My brother makes it in six, my parents say its around eight, and I have no idea how fast my friend's mom can get up there, but she's a careful person, so I'd give it eight.

Same.. it's quite boring just waiting.. but I've got everything ready, all I need are boots, gloves, and finalizing my hair.. boots are in the mail, gloves are easy to find, and my hair kinda needs to wait until a few days before the con, since I have darkdarkdark brown hair, and my cosplay needs it white. And I don't like colorful roots. >.<

This is my first Con so I'm kinda freaking out. I'm afraid to forget anything. xD

In the next 6 days I will be,

-Packing slowly, going over my bag 3-4 times to make sure I didn't forget anything
-Finding a cheap mask for the masquerade
-Painting said mask black with sparkles to match my masquerade costume
-Making sure I have the Parent Permission slip, my ID, and my badge in my bag.
-Riding my bike to ensure I'm fit enough to do the con without dying xD
-Sleep ALOT My group won't be sleeping much during the con so I've gotta rest up now so I'm ready xD

Yuki Nagato RPG (10%)
Black Rock Shooter (90%)
Synch!Miku (90%)

I don't do much until Thursday night/Friday morning. I always like to get costumes done ahead of time, so in the last week I usually add the last touches to costumes, if there are any.

Other than that, I keep my camera charged (and empty), keep my phone charged, keep the PSP charged, wash clothing, and pack. Oh, and I do plan to bust my butt working out this week, just to try to add a little bit of tension to my arms for the weekend. That's a must.
