Them Crooked Vultures. Wow, talk about mixing musical styles. To me it's intellectually engaging, so far. Only a couple of tracks have hit me on a more emotional level. I just love what John Paul Jones is doing with the bass, and those other instruments he is playing.
First saw them on Austin City Limits a few weeks back. And for the first time in a while, I remembered the band's name when I was in a place I could perhaps buy an album. So I did.
A few flaws would be things like some of the tracks could use a stronger vocalist, his voice is too soft for the thunder around him. The music is also difficult to choose whether to dance to it, or to bang my head. Actually the head banging needs a little wiggle from the neck to get the rhythm just right.
I think it's fun.
