In epic form with sticks that won't break and warriors dressed in blazing colors of their flavor. The combat will be live, even though it's really a game of one or two hit stick tag. Those that came to MEWcon may have seen a taste of it.

And so I will be that the Strawberry Village now has a son and aire, and a ninja to guard it. Spring is nigh through the blinding white of winter long. I will make swords of noodle and pipe and tape and sweat on my brow. Coated in pink, coated in brown, they will bathe in the spotlights and the hundreds of pockymaniacs.
So whatcha' gonna do, when the largest chocolate swords in japanese snacking and cosplay entertainment run wild on you? Pocky ninja mania is alive, brother!

Dark Link with a mask over his face, a brown sash belt, and no shield equals ninja to me.

Also epic news to report! The key raw material to make the pocky swords has hit Target stores. The pool noodle to pad the sticks is available. Also brown and strawberry stockings have appeared in Dollar Tree. I'll be grabbing many of these and forging the swords. The average length of the shortswords for the underlings will be between 24 and 36 inches. (2-3 feet) While the longswords for the Chocokage and Strawberrykage will fall around 40 inches. (3' 4")

Later I will scope out pink and brown material to make belts and masks out of, and test-fire the giant pocky flavors.

If I remember I was going to have the two Kage use giant swords to fight, which would have stood 6 feet tall. And I still can!
I only need to make two flatblades, one of Cloud's buster sword, and one of Inuyasha's Tetsusaiga.
Epic swords!!

The prop I had for Tetsusaiga before pased its cosplay test but failed its battle test. Too whippy, and was hard to control with all the weight anyway. So using a different method these two will be lighter.

But which sword would the Strawberry Kage choose?

Another thing that comes to mind. I may have two skits on my hands. If I can get my crew of 6 for my Inuyasha skit and practice with them, then I will still enter my Pocky War, but I'll have to ask my rival the Strawberry Kage to enter the skit under her name.

Otherwise we can just to it as a random side event, like at Pioneer Courthouse Square as a boffer demo. This way anyone from the con can join as a ninja and take part in the epic battle. Plus it won't be a skit that needs to squeeze into a 5 minute window.

Just some thoughts to consider.

All things considered, this does look like an epic skit to have, but even more if more people could join on the spot and contribute to it as an event rather than a short 5 minute skit.

I still like the story plot, and I am willing to continue working with it if the rest of the crew is.

so, it looks like this has kinda flopped. It would be nice to know if this is still going, or if it's been dropped. I don't want to make a commitment if the skit has been dropped.

Weighing the Pocky War and Inuyasha skits, I have to say that this one will not work as a skit this year.

I'm hoping to set it up as a boffer panel instead, where people can simply come in, grab a headband and sword, and play. I was hoping to hold it at a park or at Pioneer Courthouse Square, but I suspect that Portland might not react kindly to it.

The skit is down as far as competing goes, but if anyone wanted to do the story as part of the panel then the spots are still open.

Which brings me to ask the Mods to move this topic to where they see fit, and ask if they would approve of this being a panel. I also want to set up a boffer sword creation station panel before this so it can flow right from one to the other.
