Disney Cosplay
« on: September 18, 2009, 09:46:43 pm »
I don't have an official "year" for this or anything, but because Disney has always been one of my major life inspirations I think it'd only be suiting for me to do an awesome costume for it.~ At the moment I'm thinking of doing Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Anyone else down for this? xD

There's a part of me that has always kind of wanted to do a Disney cosplay.... my friends want to do it for Halloween, but I'd rather wait and make a really nice outfit at a later date, instead of rushing to pull something together now.

That, and there's the small fact that I have NO CLUE who I'd even do XD

A friend of mine did Belle a few years ago (it's a freaking amazing dress, and the petticoat was HUGE), and I did Snow White.  I think our official excuse was Kingdom Hearts...

You Jane, me Tarzan. ^.^

What jane look are you thinking about?  The costume might vary well be simple to modify from regular clothing but there are a TON of different looks (different movies/mags/tv shows) to chose from.  If you did one, you might take in your own body/face type into account to chose with.  Might make it easier for people to tell who you ever went, and didn't have yourself a Tarzan to hang on.

@Jacob_Blackfeather   I see no problem as you going as beast, just make sure you go full out, cute beast or manly beast!

Well, if you really hate wigs (and have long brown hair) you could always do the American McGee's version of Alice. She's a brunette...then again you did say you were going for something cute. So maybe that's not such a great idea. Anyway just putting it out there.~

I saw a Snow White last year at Doubletree and up at Sakuracon, and in the skit green room this year.

Also unless this was already done before by California cosplayers, what if an intrepid band of Disney cosplayers went to Disneyland and met face to face with their employed counterparts?

If I can get the right clothes, I can pull off Prince Eric, and maybe Aladdin. Maybe the Shriners have a chibi fezz I can borrow. Arrgh, now I'm having to tap into remembering what pure Disney was like. Power Rangers and KH don't count. Pinocchio, Pochohontas, Robin Hood, Toy Story, Sleeping Beauty as Prince Philip, Davy Crocket?? :D Zorro maybe, Eddie Valiant (Who Framed Rodger Rabbit).

Ohhh okay. And that sounds interesting, a half-breed Beast. Gah, I'm feeling the same way as I do when I think of Pokemon cosplay. I wanna do it but there's not much material resource to look for. There's plenty of visual aids and references, just nothing to start with unless I...(dare I say it) sew it. >_<

Not possible. They'll make you take your costume off or kick you out of the park if you do that.

I guess that could work. Though it was originally to make it contest entry qualified, I prefer to engineer my cosplays out of what I can find, so that, yes, when I enter a cosplay contest, or even out in the meetup crowd I can say that I put my heart into it. That this is MY cosplay, not a costume I bought from another company. I know that makes me much more limited and makes it a gamble to find the right pieces, but just purchasing online and eagerly waiting for it to arrive is for me, expensive and too easy. I mean it looks shiny and great, but it feels like you're impressing falsely. I know cosplaying is all in all just a mask of clothes and makeup over the normal person, no roleplaying needed, but I'd rather impress with my hard worked, well built costume that I put a soul into. So I'm hindering myself in getting a cosplay fast, but still keeping to my principles. My cos-do, my cosplay way.

Sorry for the long post.

Thank Kami there's anime cons. I thought I saw on the Disney parks site about a certain Princess package deal for kids up to 13 or 16 or something. Do they have a rule about that somewhere, or did you go to the park yourself and ask? I mean it's not like you're trying to steal their job, like wearing a BK King costume and walking into the restaurant saying "I'm the real king, gimmie a free Whopper!". I know it might be to protect from evil impostors, but it also kinda hurts the fandom of it.

XP I like helping people. Just say what you need help with and I'll do what I can!

[Off topic] I see you are doing Hana Kimi next year! I was going to do Umeda Rio but the person setting it up hates me... Literally... >.> I met her 2008 con and we were good friends but then all of the sudden she refused to talk to me anymore and I have no clue why. Someone told me I said something to her about her cosplay being under mine or something. O.o And 2008 was my first year at a convention so...yeah...I don't think I would have said that. But meh...

Our Homecoming theme this year was Alice in Wonderland! I was the Cheshire Cat -w- Twas fun!

If I did an actual Disney cosplay, I'd probably end up trying to get a group to do Nightmare Before Christmas, cuz that's my most fav movie!!! I'd probably be Oogie or one of the tricksters!
I actually wanna get this done and then go get a picture with Santa at the mall!!!

I was really thinking of being Belle next year. I am going to try and make her gold ball gown dress.  :D I will have to make the wig tho, or get it styled for me. I have plans on how to make it, so I think I could do it. The dress won't be any problem to make. It seems simply enough to me.... I will have to make it in parts tho, cause money is an issue xD But I would definitely have it for Kumoricon 10 ^-^
