Well I always like dressing up as my favorite characters... But I don't have the complexion for Spain, so I had to default to my second-favorite.

WHICH IS OKAY BECAUSE PRUSSIA IS AWESOME, don't get me wrong. Which means after Prussia I'd be my next-favorite, logically. But I don't have the build or the height for Sweden. Sigh...

Well at 5' 8" I'm fairly tall for a girl, but unless I started wearing like 7-inch heels... xD The highest I'll go is five inches. After that it's just painful.

That's what I'd do.

I don't let height stop me from cosplaying who I want to. Yes, it's less accurate, but none of the people I want to do are short, and I'm not going to put the effort into making one I don't want to do.

I usually always cosplay characters shorter than me.. like with Finland, except we found a height chart and Finland is 5'7" so I dont feel so bad only being an inch taller XD;

but yeah..on a normal basis, all my characters are shorter than I actually am. Like when I was Roxas and taller than the Axels...

It only really bothers me if the height is way off... for example, someone six feet tall playing Hitsugaya from Bleach. What bothers me more is when the person has the wrong proportions for the character - like someone really skinny trying to be a character who is supposed to be pudgier or more muscular, or vice versa. Or if girls who are very obviously female try to crossplay. (but I suppose that can work if the guy is feminine enough)

I basically cosplay all people who are about 5'4'' and below.... I didn't really realize i was doing it until I looked at my planned cosplay list and noticed that all the characters were on the short side.

Ukraine is supposed to be about 5'3'' I think? Which is good for me because I'm only about 5'1''ish (I'm shooorrrtttt!), and even though I know I'm free to cosplay whoever I want I just have a hard time picturing myself as anyone who's particularly tall. XD

I keep cosplaying shortish characters just by chance. Short tends to get paired with snappish or One Sane Man, which is my favorite kind to do.

It's best to pick characters you look similar to (or you would with the help of wigs/makeup/contacts/etc), but who you would also enjoy playing. The characters I've picked are ones I feel I can portray reasonably well. Of course, it's important to remember that these are comic-book characters, and no one will ever look EXACTLY like an anime character. They can all be interpreted a little differently, and just because a cosplayer doesn't look like your personal interpretation of the character doesn't mean they did it wrong. C8

Mmh, most of the characters I've cosplayed as, I've had some degree of resemblance to. It's something I look for when I can, not just because it looks nice, but because there's a certain degree of comfort that comes in knowing "I should look like this." Makes things come off more naturally.

Whereas if I was doing something like, say, Mikuru... well... let's just not go there.

But whilst we're on the subject of cosplaying characters that look similar to oneself, I'm just going to say I agree with him. It does come off more naturally, not to mention it's slightly cheaper. I did that this last Kumoricon: The only reason I straightened my hair and then curled the ends up again was to make in not poofy. XD It had been raining that day, so it totally would have jumped on the chance, even if I had doused my curly hair in hairspray. ><

I'm not picky about heights, though. As long as the costume is insanely awesome (as they are wont to be), I don't care if a girl my size cosplays Sweden. ='D

EDIT: Unless, of course, the girl has a C cup. Sweden with...nnn-no. Just...let's not. o.O;;

Yeah, I don't mean to say people can't cosplay who they want, but I just don't have the build for crossplay personally so being guys in general is weird for me... Plus I'm a real stickler with myself on height and weight being at least similar to the character I'm dressing up as. Other people not so much, but with me it's a big deal.

Some people are a lot more serious about their cosplays than others. There's nothing to stop you from doing whoever you want, but the best cosplays are usually the ones where people take their own appearance into consideration when choosing the character, but who are also still doing it for fun.

Those monkeys are awesome. But after I got back from the convention, I noticed that two of them were missing. I sincerely hope that they aren't off somewhere causing trouble. Or if they are, at least that it's the amusing kind of trouble.

I think of all the cosplays I've done, Baccano!'s Firo was probably the closest to me, and it was a fun excuse to dress swanky for a day. I'll probably bring that one out again for some future convention, if ever I can talk someone into going as Ennis. Greece is pretty close too, or at least is now that I've gotten my hair fixed (post-convention... *facepalm*) I'm just slighter in frame. And insomniac, not narcoleptic. XD

I've just recently hopped on the Hetalia boat and started watching it, dragging my older sister along for the ride. I'm contemplating making a Canada cosplay, and dressing my sister up as a Kumajiro gejinka or getting a fur suit. I am also thinking about making a N. Italy cosplay as well. Uwaaaghh~ so many things I want to make, so little time. ><;;

Oh also, I can't watch 'End of ze world' anymore without thinking of APH. 8'D My sister said you guys should TOTALLY do a video with it or something.

Aaaahhh everyone is already getting so much done. All I've done is walk downtown and look at swords. I found a place that sold them, but they were on a wall behind a desk and since I'm blind I couldn't get a really good look at them, but I'll definitely go back after Hallowe'en when they'll be less crowded ... or not on a Saturday. (but then, I can't really do anything, since I left all my costuming stuff at home, and it'd be really weird if I told my mother to mail me the bedsheet in my closet that I've appropriated for costuming purposes.)

Mala: Well, for the last two k-cons she's worn very... different outfits (most of characters from not so popular games), both being full body/ mascot-ish, and managed to live through the cons, with them, so she's pretty used to it. She actually posed the idea of a fur suit. xD;; Now that I think about it, it seems a little scary.. o-o;;

I had to wear faux fur pants in a dance performance. I don't think I could handle a full suit of it... but I get warm so easily. D8

...speaking of which, I'm kind of glad I probably won't be able to do chainmail. That would make it... four layers? Five? Hetalia's definitely going to be my warmest costume, even without chainmail.

She doesn't run around like a freak as much as I do at cons, so I guess that'd explain why she lives...She alo wears sweatshirts out on 90 degree days all the time, she's well trained. With a full body mask thing though, I'd probably have to guide her AGAIN this year at one point or another, she'd make it's eyes glow, or have something crazy added on to it that would limit her eyesight severally again.

If you guys saw her last year, she was a giant burlap sack with painted designs on the front of it and glowing green eyes. .3.;;
