Well, I look for patterns online regardless of it fitting me or not, if it has the basic shape I want as the ending result, I write it go to joanes, get it, and then tracing paper.
^^ I check my measurements and make it my size on the tracing paper.
I do that to all the pieces I need, remembering a seam allowance of at least 3/8ths of an inch.
then I use those patterns I have cut out.
this method doesn't take as long, and is in all honesty the easiest way.
if you can't afford patterns, then you can always take say, a shirt that you don't want and take it apart and use that as your main pattern to alter on the tracing paper.
and just a tip if you ever think of using this method.
It is always better to have it bee a bit too big, rather then small.
so If you mess up on your measurements, or your nerves, just make it a bit bigger, because you can always go through and make the seam allowance bigger, so that it fits you the way you want.
I usually like the pinch and pin method, because I do make them too big on purpose.
XD its better then making it to small and too tight and uncomfortable.
So that's basically what I do, usually people do something different XD But I have very strange ways of making things.
I usually NEVER follow directions on patterns, because I end up altering them so much, I can't use them.
XD Sorry if it doesn't help so much, just an explanation.
