That means while he doesn't get to swing swords at people anymore, he'll take any opportunity to cut them down however he can for any perceived slight. He's also ridiculously proud, which doesn't help. XD

You've never read the Dresden files? The main character's car starts out blue, but he has to get new doors, a new roof, etc. and can't afford to pick and choose, so it ends up being multicoloured by the time the books begin. I'd imagine Austria, being frugal as he is, constantly patches his clothes so they're more patches than the original fabric.

Actually, his clothes would have to be mostly whole. There's a whole etiquette to how much you can patch a particular piece of clothing before it has to be consigned to rag/scrap/home or work wear only. There's also placement and methods available to take into account. Elbow patches, acceptable. Torso patching? Not so much. Certain fabrics can't take patches at all, same with certain types of tears.
