I don't know about the enemy chess masters...there could be like this year but So far in this post we have 2 people wanting to be chess masters...Envy, and Lavi....We could so if another person who wants to be a chess master will be a FMA character but who knows really.

I have an Ed cosplay...but it's small and I personally wanna be Lavi.

It's a possibilyty though. =^_^= (just a little unlikely so far)

I shall be signing up as Roy Mustang. (Mini-skirt is optional) If not I will dress as Itachi again.

I'm also inviting my friend next year to join Kumoricon and have him sign up as a Chess master, he's real good at chess. Oh and he shall be dressed as Light Yagami (I'm a gay)

There's a possibility that I might not be Lavi. My parents usually only get me one new cosplay a year so I might either be Lavi from D.Gray-Man or Kairi from Shugo Chara.(It would be funny and cool to have him in Cosplay Chess! XD)

Anyway, I've got so many ideas for the next chess match! So far I plan to submit Queen Garnet v.3, regular Garnet, Amano Garnet, Trance Garnet, and Cloak Garnet.
It would be funny if there is another Irvine if I get in as Trance Garnet... it's a one piece bathing suit with a low neckline. Or any perverted character would work...

Anyone else thinking of things already? xD I am so ready for next year~

Yeah, when I thought of Trance Garnet in chess, I immediately flashed to either her fighting or getting defeated by a perverted character like Irvine, Miroku, etc... or for the coup de grace, a Zidane! xD

But yeah... I wonder what kind of hilarious match-ups we'll have this time? Oh, and after all this time, I finally found video of the second match! xDD /late I was happy that I got to see me fling pixie stixs around, and finally found out who the culprit that took them from the Links during the battle was! No cool, man, not cool. >.>

STUPID QUESTIONS TIME

A) what exactly IS cosplay chess? Describe it in great detail for I have never seen a match...and, uhh, I don't understand chess.

B) Is it generally only popular (or known) characters that get selected as pieces? (I ask because friends say it's SUPA FUN but I only cosplay fairly obscure characters. 8D;; )

C) How do attacks work? What if someone needed a partner to complete an attack, how does this work?

No questions are ever stupid ^_^

a) It is just chess with anime/video game characters as the pieces. In chess, you are playing with 2 rooks (pieces that can only move as far as they can forward and sideways), 2 bishops (pieces that can only move as far as they can diagonally), 2 Knights (Pieces that can only move in a 3 space L shape), 8 pawns (Pieces that can move 2 spaces forward on their 1st move, but only one forward on every other turn. And can only take out other pieces diagonally), 1 king (who can move 1 space in any direction), and 1 queen (who can move as far as she wants any way she wants). The point of the game is to take out the other person's king.
Pieces through out the game attack and kill each other to get to the king.
Each time one of these battles happens, the two characters will have a quick mock battle, with the winner already decided.
When one team gets the other's king, they win.

b) For the most part, yes, it is. It's a lot harder to enjoy the game if you don't know the characters

c) Your partner would stand on the side and when the person playing yelled: "Dark Link, Take Out Botan!" (to use a real example) My Hiei ran on.
