So I got a question, How are we going to the Mimigas? Clown white make up, or some fur based option, or an unknown third thing.

Ren is doing a Gijinka-esque Mimiga. White wig with some crazy mimiga glove things and then just things that set out who they are. He would have more info if you guys want to do the kinda stuff he's doing. I suggest not painting yourself white though.

Here is what I have planned. Just simple ears, a tail, white wig, and then I'm making fur gloves that have small claws at the end of them. The shoes are white boots with painted on claw/foot shape for accent.

If the mimigas of our group like the gijinka design I suggest for things like shoes, hair, and pants/skirt/whatever you choose things that you think would be fitting for your character. For example, I'm using the scruffy from Cosworx for Jack 'cause I think his hair would be very uneven and ruffled and the boots fit someone who needs to trek around and be second in command. =B

No body paint though. x_x

And for the blessed mimiga who have weapons in the game don't forget those!

Sad news. I might not be able to make it to the dance thanks to a surprise family dinner that no one bothered to tell me about until a few days ago :<
It's not 100% ruled out but there's a good chance I won't be there.

Meanwhile, has anyone tried steaming on wigs to straighten them? I have been attempting to straighten the ends of a wig of mine but they just aren't getting there and I've done it about five times now with hot water. I've heard about steaming but I'm skeptical.

Oh hey, for Cave Story, someone said they'd lend me a white wig that's nice looking, thick, and apparently will fit my head. So that's good.

If I had a wig that needed straightening I would test that out for you, Ren, as I have a portable steamer.

Thanks Anthony. Well, I learned we do have a portable steamer and I tried that... didn't do squat. So I surfed the net for other straightening tutorials and did the following experiments...

1) Straightener on lowest setting.
Result: I was skeptical of this so I tested it on expendible hair. Immediately destroyed on the LOWEST setting. I have a ceramic plate straightener. Figured that would happen but I was hopeful.
2) Steamer.
Result: Did nothing more than wet the wig.
3) Spray wig with water and use hairdryer.
Result: Didn't really do anything. I doubt I was replicating the technique correctly though because I didn't have a good hair dryer to use.
4) Good ol' Hot Water
Result: Wig forms as how it is wet, I have learned. If certain bits still curl while hot and wet it'll form this way. So while it straightens the bulk of the wig the ends still flip. This is my current problem. Repeating the hot water process doesn't seem to solve this... Previously I have tried weighting the ends with barrets but the weight was never enough to keep them straight.

Currently I have done the hot water again but have taped the ends to the neck of the wighead so that they are straight. It has been drying for a few hours now and isn't dry yet. I won't remove the tape until it is completely dry with the hopes that when I do the ends will be straaaaaaaight.

Crossing fingers on this one for my sanity is at stake.

EDIT: The tape worked! Now we'll see if it holds shape through the night and an eventual test run. Sweeeeeeeeet.

It's a lot less flippy now! Not stick straight but hey, it'll do. =) Maaan, if white kanekalon wasn't so shiny in sunlight I'd wear that wig all the time. It's so nice.

Meanwhile - OUR NEW SEWING MACHINE IS SO FREAKIN' SMOOOOOOOOOOTH.

Like, it sews SO smooth it's unbelievable. But then, I was using my grandma's sewing machine before and that thing made tables shake... That work horse was a beast though...... I look forward to using our new one more! It has ONE STEP BUTTON HOLE MAKER AND SLEEVE/CUFF/PANT LEG CAPABILITY!!! Those were my two biggies in a machine, haha.

And did I mention it sews suuuuuper smooth?

One of my good friends from school is most likely coming to Kcon with me! I'm really excited, I think she's been to an anime con only once despite liking anime and all that. Jameson and I were talking about simple costumes she could wear just for fun, and we thought that Erika from DRRR would be a good one, since she likes DRRR. I told her about it, and she's getting really into it with me.
Pages and pages ago in this thread, when DRRR was new, I asked what character I should cosplay from it and someone suggested Anri. And as I got more into DRRR, I've also gotten more into Anri.

I think that I'm going to change my mind about Eve and replace her with Anri. I want my costumes this con to be ones I'm super pumped about, and I'm way more interested in doing Anri than Eve. Plus if I do Anri, my friend won't be the only DRRR person walking around. AND I would be more willing to wear Anri without a group than Eve.
(AND I can probably use Athena's skirt for Anri also)

The idea of cosplaying Anri has really motivated me to lose weight, too. I've lost about an inch on my waist and an inch on my hips, and I think I can get down even more by the time school's out and I have even more time to work out.

The cool thing with Anri is that I could actually be recognized without a group, unlike my other costumes. So even without a group, I'd be happy cosplaying her.
I was going to try to talk Olivia into cosplaying Kida, but it looks like she isn't interested in DRRR anymore, so I'll just convince someone else lol.

Man, I haven't watched DRRR! in over a month... I still like it, I think, I just haven't been watching anime. Prolly for the best though - I'm overbooked for this year and way too stoked about 2011 for my wallet's own health.

Not to mention I'm obsessin' over a cosplay that I have NO idea when it'll happen. ._.; Moral of the Story: Ren needs to control himself.

Everyone is a full member, it was just that when we first started it was like "OH YEAH! US 7 OR 8 PEOPLE! WE ARE AWESOME!" and then it just kinda, exploded into a mass. We can make up a new name for it if you guys want, that was just something stupid we came up with I think at Kumoricon.

Also, for those people interested in Arakawa (aka Anthony) B: When would ya'll like to do that? I'm already makin' Nino for AX and if Kyles Ric it means, I paint a tie. Nothing too extravagant so if we want to make this a group I'm down for whenever after This Kumoricon.

I will probably still do Kyohei since really all I need is the sweater thing he wears (which I can also wear when I'm not cosplaying...more of a reason to do it!) and his hat. Going to use the same pants for him as I'm using for Johnny. He'll probably be my last day of con costume since it's super casual and easy.

As for Arakawa...Nikki, I could probably have Star done by Kumoricon, depending on how I do the actual star. I'm still debating on whether I want to go to Aki-con or not. PDXLAN is that weekend and I already have my seats for it so I may not. If not by Kumoricon and I don't do Aki-con, then definitely Sakura-con.

As for MGS, it is just me, Ren, and Rheanna (from TD) still.

It's the glasses, ain't it? XD Shinra was my second choice with my first being Izaya... mostly because I didn't want to buy a second lab coat. They're so impractical and expensive. =( However, I'm not very fond of the yaoi fanbase for Durarara so I don't really wanna cosplay either of them at this point.

And as Anthony said, Nikki, still just him, Rheanna, and myself.

Also, Nikki, just a heads up - m'not gonna be cosplaying Orochi Chris anymore for Kumoricon. Lack of money and stoked-ness involved with this. =( M'still in for Cave Story and Baccano! for sure though.
