Digimon vs Poke`mon Chess 2010

Alright! So, for summer of 2010 I would like to set up a chess match of Digimon Gijinka vs Poke`mon Gijinka! I am starting this now so hopefully we will have enough pieces by the time summer rolls around. We will need 16 Digimon and 16 Poke`mon to duke it out for the turn of the century battle! Let's see who shall come out on top! The Poke`mon who can only say their names? Or the Digmon who speak human tongue?!

I would like to ask that Chess masters be actual human cosplays from their respective series. Meaning, I want a Trainer for the Poke`mon side and a human Partner for the Digimon side.
This will not be first come first serve but applied for like the normal cosplay chess at the convention. Myself and the Poke`mon Master shall decide who goes where to best fit this or that!
P.S. :: Poke`mon/Digimon Master does not = Chess Master... >.>
AlSO! We would like to have someone who would be willing to record this epic battle of the ages for us! Only requirement is to be able to sit there and follow the action. XP If you have a video camera, that would be great, too. If not, we'll try and find someone who does...

Poke`mon Master just helps me with keeping track of the Poke`mon and they decide Poke`mon positons. They are the go-to person for all the Pokemon. Chess Master is simply that...the Chess Master. Poke`mon Master can still be in cosplay chass and can even be the Chess Master, it's just an added on title. XP

the mewtwo part, yes... Technically, there should be two legendaries, each being given the position of king and queen, the trainer is the one who controls the pieces, so they shouldn't be the king... But ya, I think, depending on the pokemon, should determine exactly where they go. Like if someone is playing a rattata or pidgey, that should be pawn, stuff like that, but if there is only powerful pokemon, then that will be a bit harder.

Snorlax would be king then. It's slow and loves to sit and nap. Though if we wanted to follow the image behind chess, the king does attack rarely but mainly rules and commands his pieces, and they protect him. Just like if a trainer is threatened, his Pokemon protects him.
Or if we wanted to, have Mewtwo be king and Mew be queen.

Pawns should be starters and common types, yes.

Exactly why I'd have Charizard be a knight to fly over other pieces or Raichu be a bishop to dash at angles with lightning speed, or Hitmonchan as either of them. Though it sounds ironic having a dragon shaped pokemon be a knight.

well that does work, but ya, I just think the king should be the most powerful of pokemon that we have signed up for the chess mach is all, because when it comes to pokemon, the trainer is almost never attacked (in the games, their never attacked) and that's why the legendaries should have that spot, then the pokemon who aren't legendary, but are still fairly strong should take the knights, bishops, and castles. Then the lowest lvl pokemon and starters should be pawns like you said.

Yellow - Thunderpunch
Orange - Fire Punch
Double white - Comet Punch
Red - Mach Punch
Double brown - cross chop
Brown with white wings - sky uppercut

what I'm trying to figure out is the perfect positions for digimon... I'm thinking that if they had mega lvl. then those can be the more powerful pieces like castle, knight, biship, while rookie lvl digimon be pawns...

As for Legendaries, I think there's only been one Legendary pokemon signed up, as for digimon, it's a little harder for that one.
