Dude, seriously, I'm impressed. I barely plan ahead for anything. I'm (most likely) going to Sakuracon and I haven't even given my cosplays a thought yet. xDD I brainstorm until, like, two months before the con in question, make a few hasty decisions, then start working. My interests change too frequently to want to commit to anything so early...

I need to stop planning so far ahead, for the reasons Jaqua has stated. It's hard to stick to a plan made that far in advance, but at the same time, I need to start a reasonable length of time before the con so I'm sure to get things done. I can't do a half-assed costume, it must be good, or I won't do anything at all. (I'm also most inspired to work on costumes right after the con.)

That said, I've already been talked into succession England for kumori 2011, but that was a group decision. I haven't decided on my others yet.
Done: Blue Spirit (A:tLA), Sollux Captor (HS)
will do: Yukio (AnE), Robin (YJ), genderbent Nilus (MAOH), Dave and Signless (Homestuck); other things I'm forgetting

I usually plan what cosplays I wanna do and then decide what I'm doing for the current year/next year...And then just have a list of what I'm wanting to do for the next years...

I already have few for '11 planned...

I have a pretty standard list of what my cosplays are going to be up to Sakuracon 2011, though this is because for some of the big groups we are doing, we really need to plan in advance.

I have a few ideas of what most my cosplays are going to be up until S'Con 2011.... but there are still a few ideas I haven't fully decided on yet. I know I'll have my Sakuracon plans 100% decided on sometime during Winter break. =]

I barely think two years ahead, usually when I have to put something off because of money. Mostly at con I think of what I'd rather be wearing and then do that next year.

Though if I don't manage it this year I'm definitely doing a FFVI Cid at 2011.

WOW, I could never plan that far ahead! XD I don't plan more than a year in advance. I don't get new cosplays often due to needing to put them off for money reasons. But this year I'm getting new ones, so that's always exciting! I don't even know what my plans are for K-con next year LOL. Just depends on money, and what I can do.

You know what that means, we shall need to make a day a month or so before con where EVERYONE on the forum comes in one of their best cosplays (this years, or old one).  I bet that would motivate not just yourself but many many people to get to work on making an awesome costume.  It would also prove a great socializing environment for those going to con or a chance to meet up for those who are unable to attend.  Hmmm, someplace big with lots of room and space to loiter...

I have a few scattered plans leading up to Kumoricon 2011, but not all my costume slots are filled out. Like a lot of other people, I like to leave room for changing interests. I probably wouldn't have planned this far ahead if I hadn't been organizing the Succession group, too.

Well for cosplays its all pretty set up but my decision on cons and how far my funds will go is really determining it at this point. I might post a list/image thing later. XD

Pioneer Courthouse Square is a good place, or somewhere along the waterfront. I'm not sure I'd be able to make it to an event, since my summer is looking like it'll be pretty busy, but I'm sure a lot of people would come if you set a date far enough in advance.

Actually, just keeping up with the forums reminds me how much I want to work on them. xD

Pretty much the same thing for me.

Though only one costume currently planned for Sakura-con 2011.

wow..it's like...a cosplay tree...

It kind of looks like a cosplay board game to me.

I don't really plan for specific cons, I just think of all the cosplay I want to do in general so if I ever get materials for it I can do it then. Whatever cosplay I have done is what I wear to cons P:

I've always been very partial to this one.  In fact, funnily enough that picture was like the second or third picture to come up when searching for Sasami.  A number of years ago (8-9 or more) I cleaned up that picture to get rid of all the stray pixels.  Heh.  Nerd-dom.

I can't imagine I'd be able to pull off anything like this:

Pretty much all of her outfits are cute as heck.  For awhile I was really obsessed with Sasami and collected tons of pictures of her from websites and Usenet.  I even ended up buying several Pretty Sammy animation cels and still have them to this day. ^_^;

I loved Sasami. Mihoshi will be my all time favorite for female from that though. Nobuyuki my favorite male. ^^;

It's so hard to decide the cosplay sometimes though. Always got to add in cost, if you want to be part of a group with it, if you feel comfortable in the outfit, how many times you want to switch cosplay during the con, and so many more factors. And like, I really want a boyfriend or close male friend to do Mouse for me when I am Shampoo. There are some cosplays I want to do when I have my son, or with a boyfriend/fiancé/husband, that I don’t really want to do alone. So, so many factors to think about. ^^;;

Woah, OP that planning tree is impressive. I respect anyone that has the self control to plan more than a year ahead. K'con is the only one I attend every year, but I can never decide WHAT to do until a few months before, because my mind keeps changing. >_<

Like this year I wanted to be one thing, than another, than scrapped those ideas for a really complex one, then scrapped that due to knowing I was overreaching sewing abilities, then went back to the first one, then decided I was ONLY gonna do the second one and now I'm thingking of a third one and agh. My brain hurts.

well, It used to be that a month before con my whole group would go on an insane "WHAT ARE WE DOING???" shopping rant/mission.
However, with five of us, two who can sew and one machine that doesn't work so well...
so it gets more planned the more cons we go to and the more insane I (Not the leader, but definitely the most obssesive and pestering) get.
This year I put together a spread sheet of all of our dream cosplays and things other people want others of us to cosplay, so that we can pick and choose from the list. Most of us have all three nailed down for k-con '10. and even a few for '11.
We've already started, but waiting for christmas money until we go really insane :D

I have plans up to 2012. I keep finding characters I want to cosplay and set a con for them.  There's only like 3, maybe 4 per con.
2012 Kumoricon Cosplay
Fire Nation Disguise Suki -A:TLAB
Lenalee Lee - D.Gray-man
Sasuke - Brave 10
Yuffie Kisaragi
Sailor Moon

It's hard to say because their are cosplays that I am planning on doing years from now, because I dont quite have the body shape for them yet or I want to get in some more experience before doing them. but specifically its probably around two years (or 4 more cosplays) but it's growing all the time.
Kumoricon 2013!
